Needs Or Wants?
Hey i know i ask a lot of questions on my blog, and input and thoughts from people help me a lot, and i hope it helps others as well (that’s the purpose of this website!)
Ok, we all want to be more wealthy, right? Be it getting that new car, those clothes, or in my case, that new guitar. :)
Well right now i’m feeling like i could use some more money (which would make me feel more wealthy…)
Let me explain!
i don’t exactly want or need more money, well i could sure use more of it, but that’s beside the point…. more money would bring me more wealth, which is what i’m looking for (like i said i need a new guitar, or at least to have this one fixed! which costs money!) so my primary focus is on “wealth“
So it’s not that i need more money, it’s more that i want more money to acquire something, for instance.. that guitar (or have mine fixed).
To want is a heavy burden of choice - To need is to loose freedom and voice
That quote is one i remind myself of almost everyday!
Well that’s what i call loosing freedom and voice! Addictions can make you do some crazy things! So that’s the kind of needs, no one needs!
Ok i don’t need it, but i want it! So it’s a heavy burden of choice, and i have a deep desire to get it.. but i’m not gonna spend my last dime to get it! As opposed to a cigarette (if you’re a smoker you know what i mean)…reason why quitting smoking is a good idea.. it removes that “need” from your life.. which if you’re kinda addicted to it.. makes your life less enjoyable! That can be applied to almost anything!
Say you need a new car for your job, well imagine getting it and having to work more to pay it! Doesn’t sound too good to me, unless you love that job! Why not change job instead? Get one where you don’t need a car… then when your financial situation will be ok and you can afford it, you’ll probably buy that car you “wanted”! So that’s good!
Life is all about needs and wants!
There’s necessities, the primary needs, like food and all, those are the good needs! And there’s the bad needs, like addictions and stuff, or the things you cannot live without, but you would surely survice without (i can live without a guitar, but i “need” it to be happy and creative)!
Then there’s the “wants”, the logical and rational wants (like not spending future money, and not buy on emotion), and the impulsive wants (which can make you go broke pretty fast, so watch it!)
