How Much Is A Link On Your Blog Worth?
Most of you fellow bloggers know about sites like reviewme, payperpost, sponsoredreviews, blogvertise, text link ads, and others. And those can be helpful in the process of monetizing your blog(s). You get money for reviewing others’ websites and/or linking to other blogs.
Now i’m really wondering something. I signed up not so long ago to a “paid posts/links” thing (you can guess which one it is from the ones listed above), and was wondering how much a link on a blog can be worth. So i made some research and i came up with answers to some of my questions.
First i saw that one of my offer to review a website was declined by the advertiser (no reason was given by the advertiser…), i was gonna write about their site this week anyway, for free… but i thought “why not monetize this since they’re looking for exposure and are willing to pay?“, but hey! They declined my offer, so they probably don’t need links back and exposure that much!
But then I started wondering if my asked price was maybe too high. Well maybe it was, but i think that $20 is a reasonable price, since that link would stay on here forever!
Ok so i asked for $20! Was that too much? Let’s see…
I took into account my technorati rank, alexa rank, the price that reviewme says a review on my site is worth, and also the (very nice) link price calculator that the folks over at text link ads put up.
So here are the details:
Technorati: 44.285 rank
Alexa: 417,372 rank
ReviewMe: $60.00 for posting a review
Text Link Ads: Between $18.00 (footer) and $29.00 (main content area)
With that information, provided you have advertising money to spend, is a link on here worth 20 bucks? A link that would stay there for years and years that is!
Well Text Link Ads says it’s worth $29.00! So selling one for $20.00 is like a $9 discount for the advertiser! And what about the price of a review with reviewme which is $60.00? So maybe i could sell a link on my blog for $30.00, and maybe a review for $50.00! Or maybe $80.00! But on the other hand, maybe no one would want to buy a link or review on here! Which would be real fine with me!
You know what? A link on your blog is worth what someone is willing to pay for it!
Keep linking to sites and blogs for free, and your efforts will pay off in the long run! I’m not saying not to get paid for posting links and revieweing blogs/sites, we can all use some money! If someone offers you money, well by all means, accept it! And just make sure the site/blog fits the theme of your blog, and that it could, in some way, benefit your readers and visitors!
I’d be really interested in hearing (reading) what you think about that? How do you see paid/sponsored posts and selling advertisement spots? Most of us are using adsense already anyway!
So?
