The Pros And Cons Of Running Your Own Online Business

It has been said a thousand times (more than that actually) that you can make money online, and you can make a lot of it! It is true. It’s one of the most popular terms in the blogosphere. But as with any business or business model there are pros and cons. Even if there was more cons, i still think that the pros of running an online business or internet marketing business outweighs the cons.
Those are my own observations and experiences, and are not meant to be taken as if i was the most successful online entrepreneur. Even tips and tricks from the most successful online entrepreneurs may or may not help you be more successful and get better results. It’s a matter of finding what works for you and always keep learning and doing your homeworks.
So here’s my personal list of the pros and cons of running an online business:
Pros:
You set your own hours, your own schedule
You are your own boss - Yes you are! You have total control!
You can reach the point where everything is automated
More freedom, you can work on exactly what you want, when you want
You can work from anywhere in the world for as long as you can connect to the internet
You learn a lot from others and get to share your knowledge
You can make tons of money (i know it’s a little cliché, but hey!)
You can set up a new website/blog in a matter of hours (even less than that, using wordpress, but it can be a little more time consuming if you decide to build a traditional site, but definitely not less fun)
You don’t have to make cold calls or stuff like that - you can get new customers in a matter of minutes (adwords)
Web hosting is cheaper than it is to rent a space to conduct business
No wharehouse, no inventory (unless you sell goods/products)
You can also make friends through networking sites, blogs, forums
You can work with anyone you like (or work with someone else, without laying off anybody)
You can gain more recognition as an online entrepreneur than by working for someone
Cons:
It may be hard for some to “not” have a schedule
It can be a little harder to set goals and achieve them, as opposed to having a boss setting your goals for you
A lot of people won’t ever make a dime with online marketing
You can spend a lot of moolah before making a sale (provided you have absolutely no clue what you’re doing)
What if your website was down for a day or two?
You have no dental plan (???)
Ok, i’m trying real hard here to find more cons, but honestly… I can’t! I strongly believe that with the right business plan you can go a long way. Getting to know some key people can also help a lot in growing your business. Sure, operating an online business or internet marketing business or having your own blog, has it’s flaws and may not be suitable for everybody, but isn’t it just that much more exciting?
