Yep This Is Me! - The Face Behind The Blog

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Some of you may already know I really like it when I can see a picture of the person behind a blog. And I strongly believe it makes a blog more credible and fun to read, when you can actually “see” who is writing. Which is the reason why I have that picture of me right there at the top of my sidebar! (*edited: picture is now on my about page since I released my new design in June)

Some people will disagree, and will never put a picture of themselves on their blog(s), which is real fine with me, but when I have to actually “spend time” trying to find a picture of the writer/author of the blog, or can’t find the name of the person behind the blog, chances are I won’t return.

David Airey got a really (really) nice idea, and I figured it was time for me to join in on this “Face Behind The Blog” collection/group posting. I really enjoyed reading the posts from other bloggers and friends, Dawud Miracle, The PaperBull, Drew McLellan, Dave Olson, Wendy Piersall, Randa Clay, so here’s mine!

Are You And Your Business Prepared For Growth?

Today, a business can go from zero to hero in less time then it takes to read a blog post. Viral marketing, social networking and all that makes it kinda easy to gain exposure (not only for bloggers, this post is not geared only towards blogging, but any business), more recognition in a specific field, earn more money, and so on.

“Yesterday no one knew about these guys, and now they’re everywhere!”…

Sounds familiar?

Business Growth - Are You PreparedWell those companies, business people, or bloggers authors/writers probably were prepared for growth. If the goal with your company or your blog is to expand and grow to a comfortable level, or even start hiring more people, and, of course, earn a decent amount of money, you really need to prepare yourself, your team, and make sure the tools you use are up to date to support that growth. Or else it just won’t work. You can’t really run a business, and expect it to work and grow, if you’re not prepared or if you don’t have a plan. [Read more →]

The Tools I Use To Boost My Blogging Productivity

Blogging is not only about writing and reading, even though those 2 are the most important in my opinion, it’s also about designing, coding and understanding (a lot of things). It is really easy to loose focus and do things that are totally counter-productive (and I like it when I feel I’m productive), but fortunately technology is there to help us! woohoo! I got many e-mails from visitors, readers and bloggers asking me what wordpress plugins i use and why. So i thought i could answer those questions in a post! :)

Just a quick note before we go into the plugins world, I run wordpress and use the cutline theme (so those plugins will work on wordpress), and customized the layout/design to fit my taste and my needs for this blog, and I found the cutline theme quite easy to customize, plus the archives and sitemap system works like a charm!

On to the list of plugins I use: [Read more →]

DonorsChoose.org - BlogCatalog Raises The Bar With “Bloggers Making History”

Talk about a nice idea! The folks over at BlogCatalog got this idea of holding a fund-raising/charity bloggy event, DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization that specializes in charity and fund raising for students and schools is the organization that will manage the donations.

DonorsChoose is a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. - DonorsChoose.org

So far, at the time of writing this, already $175.00 has been donated. But Tony from BlogCatalog wants to raise the bar a little… the goal is $25,000.00USD!! Please take some time to read this post on the BlogCatalog Discussion Forum, and if you feel this is a worthy cause, hit that “donate” button, and feel the power of giving back! :) [Read more →]

How To “Look” Like A Pro Blogger Even If You’re Not One (Yet!)

Being recognized as an expert in a particular field and positioning yourself as a leader can be done more easily in the blogging world than in the offline world i think (i’d like to put the emphasis on the word “can“, since it “can” be real hard too), but there are things you definitely want to avoid.

How can you “look” like you’re a profesionnal blogger even if you’re not? Actually it’s quite simple, but there are things to keep in mind if you don’t want to look or sound like you’re new to blogging, and want to look pro right from the start. Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong in being new at something, everybody has to go through the same stuff, learning curve and all, and at some point every blogger writer/author will face similar problems. Measuring A Blog’s Success

Well I’ve been thinking about that for a while now, and while trying to find a way to quantify the success of a blog (like an equation or something) many questions popped into my mind. Most bloggers will never earn as much money as John Chow, Darren Rowse or Jeremy Schoemaker, but still, there’s over 70 million blogs out there (not all of them are updated regularly though).

So, can you really measure the success of a blog based only on the revenues? Or would you consider the amount of comments, or even the number of RSS subscribers as the best indicators of a blog’s success? [Read more →]

Link Directory - Blog Jobs Board - New Project

Some time ago I wrote a post regarding the addition of a couple of new features and sections on SmartWealthyRich. First one to see the day will be the Link Directory, then the Blog Jobs Board. I decided not to add a forum because I believe it would be too time-consuming to manage it. Thanx to all of you who replied to the other post, your input, as always, is greatly appreciated! :)

So here are some of the latest news, and what’s coming on SmartWealthyRich in the next weeks. [Read more →]

Workplace Survival Dialog - Recharge Your Batteries

Workplace Survival DialogDavid from Reflections on Balance asked me if i wanted to join in the fun and participate in his “Workplace Survival” dialog.

I took some time to read Davids’ posts and comments on his blog, and one thing I noticed is that almost everyone had to deal with bad situations at work. Seems like there is no escape, and everyone has to go through similar stuff (also check out “Work-Life Balance” by Anthony Baggett, and also my “Choices Are Made Long Before You Decide” post i wrote not so long ago). You probably had to deal with jerks (for lack of better terms) at work before. So how can one achieve balance between work and personal life, especially when you work with jerks, it can be pretty damn hard to find balance in your personal life. [Read more →]
