When A Funny Or Stupid Idea Makes You Rich - The SouthPark Meme

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This post is in reply to Shane from Zoomstart, who tagged me for the SouthPark meme. I usually don’t participate in memes or tag games unless I see value or find it could be interesting to my readers. I participated in memes before, and it helped a lot to kick start my blog, but at this point I carefully choose and pick the memes I join. And the SouthPark meme, while at first may seem completely unrelated to my blog, it actually is right on topic. First it’s a fun meme, and second the creators of SP achieved a high level of success. Who never heard of Kenny? [Read more →]

Give Them A Good Reason To Click And Read (And Subscribe)

You know, these “sponsored links” in Google search results on the right? Well, your blog posts are quite similar to these. The sponsored links units tells the readers/searchers what to click and why they should. Same with your blog posts. The sponsored ads tell the searchers the benefits and the features of whatever product they’re selling. Well on your blog you’re selling ideas and thoughts, so your posts titles should do exactly the same as the titles in the sponsored links section in Google. Give people a good reason to click and read.

When using services like Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing, a surefire way to get people to click is to write an interesting and catchy title, then on the second line write the benefits, and on the 3rd line the features. That’s pure Perry Marshall-esque. [Read more →]

Don’t Buy Me A Beer, Use That Money For Something Else instead

Have you heard about that plugin called “Buy Me A Beer“? It’s simply a nicer and cooler way of asking your readers to donate, instead of having a “donate” paypal button, which looks rather ugly anyway, the buy me a beer plugin does the same thing and it’s linked to your paypal e-mail adress which you can modify in the wordpress admin, so people can send you money. Or donations if you prefer, to thank you for writing those incredibly insightful and thought provoking posts! :)

Well, I do drink beer sometimes but I can afford to buy my own, so instead of buying me a beer, why not take that money and lend it to an entrepreneur in the developing world? How does that sound? [Read more →]

New Bling Bling… er… Design I Mean!

Well, as you can see I changed my blog design! If you’re reading my blog through RSS, please take some time to visit the site and check it out, and leave your comments, it’s always appreciated.

This new design is still based on the Cutline theme, but it’s a modified 3 columns version. I wanted something cleaner and with more whitespace, and I think it does the job just fine. I tested the new design in Safari, Firefox and Opera on Mac OSX 10.4.9 and with Browser Cam for Windows OS and browsers, cause I don’t have access to a PC, so it is expected that there will be some minor bugs, which will be fixed if you let me know! :) [Read more →]

Starting Off Big?

As many of you know I’m working on a new blog, and of course I would love to launch this new blog and already have hundreds or even thousands of RSS subscribers and steady traffic. Wouldn’t that be awesome? I know I’m a very positive and optimistic guy, and I’ve been thinking a lot about what to do with that new blog (since I’m on a budget) to make it a successful one.

It’s not starting it that’s difficult, it’s keeping that new blog afloat. You need a plan in order to succeed. The launch is one thing, but it is important to have content, and get rid of the bugs, but that is common sense anyway. What can you do or use to make your new blog a big success right from the start? Meaning there’s already many articles published, it receives good traffic, and rss numbers are increasing steadily. You know, when you feel like a blog has always been there? That’s what I’m aiming for. [Read more →]

Smart Posts Worth Reading #5

14 Ways To Procrastinate Productively: Structured procrastination? How does that sound? John wrote about how procrastination can actually be a good thing if you procrastinate well and structure and plan ahead. Maybe i should start postponing stuff, and get more done! :)

Building Your Business By Investing In People Rather Than Stuff: It’s no secret that most of the companies that failed and closed doors or are struggling financially invested in stuff instead of people. The employees are the life force of any company. Investing in people (the right people) rather than stuff is a no-brainer, but still a lot of companies don’t “get it“. [Read more →]

Would You Consider Selling?

Not so long ago Matt Coddington sold Net Business Blog, for quite a nice chunk of change, $13,000. This blog was about 5 months old when he sold it, he started it in January 07. Which, in my opinion, is pretty impressive.

A blog is a business, as soon as you make your first dollar with your blog, it becomes a business. And of course, we’re all interested in finding out how much our blog is worth. There are many tools out there that can help us with that. Just have to keep in mind that the price tag you can put on your blog is the price someone is actually willing to pay for it. [Read more →]

Can You Write? If So, Maybe You’ll Be Interested In This!

I’m working on that new blog, some of you already know about it. It’s going to be a multi-authored blog, on which I will write probably 2-3 posts a week, and I’m looking for people to contribute and write on this blog on a regular basis, people that have knowledge and strong skills on the following topics:

  • Design - web design, print, graphic design, anything goes, tutorials, own designs, services
  • Writing - articles on copy-writing, sales pages, white papers, and the likes

Don’t Put All Your Eggs In The Same Basket? Wait A Sec…

There I was, browsing community/networking sites like blogcatalog and mybloglog and some blog directories, and I noticed that a lot of people were writing on and managing a lot more than 1 or 2 blogs. I think it’s real fine to diversify and write on say 2 to 4 blogs, especially if the topics are different, but it seems some people can handle 8 or even 12 blogs, and sometimes more. How can one achieve that? No sleep maybe?

Maki, who runs DoshDosh, had this goal of starting 7 niche blogs in 7 days and wrote a bunch of articles on the topic of niche blogging. I think it’s a great idea, and one can really benefit from doing something similar, or take the idea as a starting point and at least experiment. [Read more →]
