Getting A-Listers to Notice Your Blog vs Social Networking

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

In the “blogging world“, when an authority blogger writes about your blog, or feels like linking to one of your post, it can bring a lot of traffic, and potentially make your feedburner chicklet go nuts.

Social networks like StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and others, can definitely send massive traffic too. But from my experience, people coming from Problogger, LifeHack, ChrisG, Performancing, Successful-Blog and other well-known and established blogs are more inclined to click, read and subscribe to your rss feed. (like I said, that’s “my” experience) [Read more →]

What Mentors Can’t Teach You, Anti-Mentors Can: Shane has a great story on how anti-mentors can teach you a lot and what you learn from them usually will help you move forward and focus on the solutions instead of the problems. A really great read! :)

Exactly How I Got a Stampede of Web Traffic: Dean Hunt wrote a guest post for the milkman recently, explaining how he took a “normal” post, modified it, and got on the frontpage of Digg in no time. Negativity can help you make it on Digg, no doubts there, it worked for Dean, might work for you too! [Read more →]

Please Link Responsibly - Relevancy Doesn’t Matter Anymore In Blogging!

What? I just said that? Ok, sorry about that. But honestly, do you think relevancy really matters in blogging anymore? I doubt it. But before you start wondering what hit me, lemme explain.

You’re a blogger an online publisher/writer, you definitely want people to read your stuff, and you certainly want more incoming links. I do.

You also wanna rank as high as possible for certain keywords in the search engines, and get a good Page Rank. I do.

And I also want people to read, discuss, and comment on my blog posts. Don’t you?

Linking to a blog using irrelevant keywords won’t help making the blog owner want to comment on your post(s). If you want people to click and read, help them, let them know where the link they’re about to click will take them. I rarely click on links that are not relevant or don’t give me a good enough reason to make the effort of clicking. (hey! clicking is exhausting, and takes a lot of efforts!) [Read more →]

The Launch And The Lack Of Sleep - And I’m Happy!

Freelance Folder - Launch

Hello guyz and galz, today I’m launching that new blog I’ve been talking about, and I have to say I’m quite happy, and as I’m writing this post I can almost feel the tension and pressure go away. :)

Here it is: Freelance Folder.

A blog for freelancers (any field), entrepreneurs, work-at-home people, small business owners. Right now, we have 6 writers, and of course always looking for new talents and people wanting to contribute to this new blog. [Read more →]

Widgets, Blidgets And Advertising - Do You Really Need Those?

Most of us already have the Mybloglog recent visitors widget on our blog(s), and many of us also have the BlogCatalog neighborhood widget. It’s fun to see who’s visiting our blog, Isn’t it?

Of course there are many others you could add to your sidebar. But thing is, people might leave your blog even before it’s finished loading. My guess is you don’t want that.

Social Networking/Blogging Widgets

The Mybloglog and Blogcatalog ones really go well together, you can see that in my sidebar. They look quite similar and you can customize the look, so it’s pretty cool.

Unfortunately when one of those 2 is down, your sidebar won’t load completely. Probably many people took them off their sidebar for that simple reason. I still use them, and I have to say I’m quite happy with them, compared to other services. [Read more →]

Suggestions Welcome - Contest and Prizes

As some of you may already know, I’m starting a new multi-author blog this week. I just can’t wait, maybe I’ll be able to get some sleep once it’s all up and running, or maybe not! :)

I’d like to ask you something. I’m thinking of holding a contest on this new blog, to get the ball rolling and reward people that visit, leave comments and subscribe to the RSS feed. It’s always nice to know you can win something simply for being active in a community or on a blog.

I could really use your input and feedback on that. [Read more →]

Increase Your Search Engine Rankings By Deep Linking: Raj wrote another excellent article on his blog, on the topic of deep linking and the effects of deep linking on search engine rankings. Raj suggests linking to older posts in every single new one you write, which is something I know I should do more often.

Everyone Loves an Underdog: Good job on this one Shane! It’s true everyone loves an underdog, reading that post got me thinking of my businesses. And I love when a post makes me think like that. :) [Read more →]

Guest Post On BloggingTips - CSS Galleries And Traffic

Hey folks, just a quick one to let you know I wrote a guest post on BloggingTips and it got published today. Have a look, read, and feel free to leave a comment! :)

Most bloggers are looking for more traffic and a wider audience, so I wrote this post on how to get traffic from CSS galleries. Many blogs I read used this technique to get the ball rolling, and get traffic when they started. Mixing this with social networking can definitely bring in a more than decent number of visitors.

Hope you like the post!

Take care!

7 Things Playing In A Rock Band Taught Me About Business

Some of you already know I’m a guitar player, and I’ve been playing for 13 years now, and I’m now in the studio with my band recording an album that should see the day sometime this Fall. I learned so much playing in a rock band and with heavy acts, that it got me thinking about how can my experiences relate to my online business.

Playing guitar in a rock band and running an online business have quite a lot of similarities in fact. Let’s see:

The Right People

We all know how important it is to partner up with the right people, either in music or in business, it’s quite the same thing. When you spend most of your time with the same 3-4 people, working on songs, recording and rehearsing, you quickly realize how important it is you work with the right people. Or else the band will fail. Everyone has to be on the same page. [Read more →]
