Most, if not all, of you already know that I sold SWR to my good friend Liz Strauss not so long ago, and I promised to keep you posted on how things are going. Well I’m happy to report things are going good. I know we’re a bit late and haven’t updated SWR since some time, but don’t worry we’re getting there (redesign and all).

Hey everyone, first thanks a lot for sticking with me, there are still around 500 people subscribed to this feed and I think it’s about time I give you some news (cool news this time)

2007 has been a kick-ass year for me. I started blogging, met a ton of cool people, launched another blog, got an album coming up soon with my band. It’s been a busy year, and I have a feeling 2008 will be even better.

While I was checking some stats, I noticed traffic coming from “some websites“, at first I didn’t mind, I mean who wouldn’t want some free traffic? But after doing a little more research, I found some sites that I are kinda going against what I believe in when it comes to commenting on blogs. I believe it’s about conversations and adding value to discussions.

Ok, most of you know that this blog is “DoFollow“, meaning when you write a comment you get a link back to your site. And some PR checker tools are returning a PR5 for this blog. (don’t worry, this post is not really about PageRank)

I think you’re starting to see where I’m going….

So there is over 4,500 comments on this blog, that means I give quite a bit of link love. That I don’t mind, I think dofollow is an awesome way of rewarding people that take the time to leave comments. [Read more →]

Well, the goal was to get 1000 subscribers in the first month. Which would have been quite awesome, but it didn’t happen. Instead, it took 3 months to get 1261 RSS readers. Don’t get me wrong, I think this is pretty nice! :)

Sometimes you gotta aim high, and then re-adjust. That’s what I did.

So, since every single blogger out there has a post on how you can increase your RSS numbers, I thought I’d write one too (no “sure-fire ways” post here, just my personal experience)! :) [Read more →]

Yep, October 15 is Blog Action Day. A project started by Collis and Cyan of FreelanceSwitch and Leo of ZenHabits. There’s around 15,500 blogs participating (including the Official Google Blog and the YouTube Blog), pretty cool heh? :)

All of my earnings from SWR today will go to the World Wildlife Foundation/Save Our Climate. I donated money to the WWF before, and I think today is a great occasion to contribute again, and maybe help a little. Cause even “a little” helps. :) [Read more →]

Most of you probably already knew that David Airey was holding a contest on his Graphic Design Blog, to celebrate the fact his blog just turned 1. The contest is over, and with over $4,000 in prizes and 28 winners, it was definitely a success.

The reason I’m writing this, is because I was a sponsor in this contest. I told David I’d give 3 prizes:

Today is the “Blogging Against Abuse” day. The idea is to post something related to “abuse“, any type of abuse. This may sound a little vague, but on the other hand, that means whatever the type of blog you run, no matter what niche, you can participate and still stay on topic. :)

The “Stop The Abuse” idea came from the cool folks at BlogCatalog, and of course I had to join in, especially cause I think it’s a great idea, but I also have some things I want to share.

You meet a lot of nice people online, especially when you run a blog, but unfortunately you also meet the not-so-cool-so-make-sure-you-dont-trust type. [Read more →]
