BloggersUnite Against Abuse - September 27th

Some time ago Tony at BlogCatalog announced a new “blogging challenge“, blogging against abuse, any kind of abuse. This will take place on September 27th. You can read about it on the official BlogCatalog Blog and on the Discussion Board.

The goal is to get as many bloggers as possible to post about “abuse” on the same day, and if some feel charitable, give some money to organizations (you choose which ones). Have you heard about that plugin called “Buy Me A Beer“? It’s simply a nicer and cooler way of asking your readers to donate, instead of having a “donate” paypal button, which looks rather ugly anyway, the buy me a beer plugin does the same thing and it’s linked to your paypal e-mail adress which you can modify in the wordpress admin, so people can send you money. Or donations if you prefer, to thank you for writing those incredibly insightful and thought provoking posts! :)

Well, I do drink beer sometimes but I can afford to buy my own, so instead of buying me a beer, why not take that money and lend it to an entrepreneur in the developing world? How does that sound? [Read more →]

Last week, the folks over at BlogCatalog had an idea, helping kids in schools! And they asked the bblogcatalog members to blog about the DonorsChoose Fundraising Event, many did! This posts is for them! Thanx a lot to all of you for taking the challenge and blogging about the fundraising event and help kids! It really was a fun experiment!

The goal was to raise $25,000.00, but even though a lot of people blogged about this, the total donation amount recieved after 1 week, was $1,140.00, which is not bad at all! Check out the DonorsChooose page. The benefits of this challenge for DonorsChoose was a HUGE traffic spike, and they will definitely benefit from the exposure even 6 months or maybe a year from now, even if we did not meet the $25K. I’m really proud and happy to have been a part of this challenge, and a huge thanx to Tony Berkman from BlogCatalog for his help and efforts in putting this all together, and also for getting this on PRWeb!! :)

So my way of thanking the people that joined in and blogged about this, is by sharing a little link love! Please take some time to visit their blogs, I know this is a long list, but many of those bloggers showed real creativity and invested a lot of time in this fundraising event! Talk about a nice idea! The folks over at BlogCatalog got this idea of holding a fund-raising/charity bloggy event, DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization that specializes in charity and fund raising for students and schools is the organization that will manage the donations.

So far, at the time of writing this, already $175.00 has been donated. But Tony from BlogCatalog wants to raise the bar a little… the goal is $25,000.00USD!! You know i like contests, and you probably know i like to get involved in charity events and stuff, and help others. One good way to help other people is by sharing knowledge (and always keep learning about new things) and inviting people to participate and get involved, so it’s kind of a win-win situation both for the giver and the reciever.

So here it is!

I wrote about the Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind Book and Seminar before, and like i mentionned in my previous post, i will be giving a copy of The Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind Book (no costs, free shipping). And i thought it would be interesting to do some sort of contest and invite people to participate. No special skills or anything required. Just some creativity and a couple minutes of your time! :)

Have you ever heard of Kiva? Would you like to help other entrepreneurs?

Dave over at DaveOlson.ca will give $25 to an entrepreneur in the developing world through Kiva. I think this is a wonderful idea! A lot of people visiting smartwealthyrich are entrepreneurs themselves, and if we can all get together, we can help those in need!

It’s pretty simple, go to Daves’ blog and read his post titled “Today is do something for someone else day!“, and simply post a comment or link to Daves’ post on your blog. Dave will lend $25 to an entrepreneur in the developing world!

I know some people will think “ah i don’t have the money“… well you don’t need to! Dave will lend $25 to an entrepreneur that’s listed on Kiva.org for every comment in reply to his post, or if you link to his post from your blog!

So what are you waiting for? You can help other entrepreneurs today, no need to wait! Dave lended $25 to an entrepreneur named Tolumaanave Susana Shephard who lives in Gagaifo, Samoa, who needs help with her Taro Farm! I just replied to Daves’ post, and he lended the $25 right away!

I sincerely think this is a great way to help others! Dave, much respect to you! Great idea!
