Not so long ago Matt Coddington sold Net Business Blog, for quite a nice chunk of change, $13,000. This blog was about 5 months old when he sold it, he started it in January 07. Which, in my opinion, is pretty impressive.

A blog is a business, as soon as you make your first dollar with your blog, it becomes a business. And of course, we’re all interested in finding out how much our blog is worth. I like it a lot when I make a mistake and learn from it. You know, when you finally “get it” and start moving forward? That I like even more! Everything falls into place, energy flows, you feel more creative, and get more things done, in less time. It’s like a puzzle, sometimes you have to try and make mistakes in order to get it right the next time.

Money - My Greatest Distraction?

One mistake I made in the past, was to worry too much and too often about money. Especially when I quit my day job, almost 3 years ago, and started working on my own business(es). All the time spent worrying about money, was time not well spent. Time I could’ve used to do something else, something more constructive, more productive. To me, money was a distraction!

Just a quick note to let you know i’m at the “Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind” seminar this week-end (May seems to be the month of conferences and seminars), but i’ll write posts anyway, since i come back home after the days at the seminar (and my internet is working fine, as opposed to last week-end at the Crowne Plaza hehe).

I will, of course, write a wrap-up/review post of the seminar, probably on Monday or Tuesday. So far (after 1 day) i have to say it’s great, got to meet a lot of really nice people, entrepreneurs, business people, marketers, network marketers, and also 2 bloggers (or should i say writers?), unfortunately, neither I or them had business cards (note to self: have business cards printed asap), and i must have made a mistake when writing down their URL (hopefully they will visit my blog) cause it doesn’t work. Whatever your field of expertise is, whatever the type of business you work in (or “on”), you are making money, or you’re working on that, even if it’s non-profit, it is still a business, and can be run as such. So you’re making money, or you’re on your way. But what if you could save some money right now, and re-invest that money to grow your business?

I put up a short list of ways you can save some money, so that it can help you grow your business. Simply take the money you save by following those tips and tricks (oh, and by the way, i offer no guarantees here, it’s my own experiences, but i certainly encourage you to try these at home!) and re-invest the money in advertising, marketing, office supplies, new computer and the likes. I’ve been reading a lot of posts on Yaro Starak Entrepreneurs-Journey blog lately. It’s part of my “study successful people” daily routine. Yaro is definitely successful, and has a high-authority blog, with close to 4000 RSS subscribers.

One thing that really caught my attention was his “advertise” page. Of course that was after watching/listening to most of his podcasts :)

His advertise page got me thinking about how to create multiple source of recurring income from a blog. Sponsored reviews, pay per post and reviewme reviews sure are nice ways to monetize a blog, no doubts there. But it’s not recurring. You get paid per review, not every month.

Here’s a little story ;)

I’ve worked for a telecom company for something like 5 years, and was getting paid on time, every time (ok, sure it was a “paycheck every 2 weeks” kinda job, but still). Then I started working online, and to this day, i’ve recieved all my money on time! Be it from sponsors, advertisers, affiliate programs and others, always on time.

Then, not so long ago, I accepted a contract for a market research firm from Montreal (I won’t name them here, since it wouldn’t be relevant to the purpose of this post, and their website is in French). So i started working there, calling customers, analyzing stuff, filling out reports and all. All this was real fine with me! But…it was supposed to be a 4 weeks contract, and i was supposed to get paid a certain amount, due on certain dates. When the first payday arrived, i checked my online bank statement and.. oh oh… no money?

Disclosure: As many of you may already know, sponsoredreviews.com is a “get paid to review blogs and websites” service. They launched not so long ago. I’ve wrote about “paid reviews” (pros and cons) before on smartwealthyrich.com and here are the 2 reasons i am reviewing Madison Who’s Who on here:

First, i get paid for reviewing it (which is not why i accepted to review it, more to test the system and get the feel of how it works). Second, i think my readers could benefit from knowing about it! I’m not doing this to make quick cash, since it takes some time to actually go and visit the site, contact the administrators of the site, read more, do some research, then write the review.

I could write a “5 things you don’t know about me” post, but i find this a little cliché, and everyone seems to have one posted on their blogs, so i thought i could, instead, write the 3 reasons i don’t want to have to feel secure and why i prefer insecurity.

You know, this feeling you get when you recieve your paycheck every two weeks? You don’t have to worry about it, you’ll recieve your well-deserved money..direct deposit.. into your bank account! How awesome is that? Well, that’s called “security”. You know what’s gonna happen, no surprises, nothing to worry about.

Have you ever heard of Kiva? Would you like to help other entrepreneurs?

Tonight i was supposed to attend the Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind Evening Seminar with Robert Riopel as the speaker for the evening. But I couldn’t get in! I had my ticket with me (it was a free evening), had registered on their website, but there was room for only about 800 persons, and we were 1300+ waiting outside the conference room doors. So of course almost 500 of us had to go home. And i was one of the 500! Which is sad because i really wanted to attend this seminar and, of course, write about it on smartwealthyrich!

But you know what? I’m so happy i couldn’t get in!

Here’s why:

The folks at Peak Potentials Training were expecting 800 persons, but 1300+ showed up with tickets in hand! So, of course, to show their gratitude, appologize, and make sure not to make anyone unsatisfied or angry, they decided to give us all access to the whole week-end seminar in May in Montreal (valued at $1295)! For Free! How cool is that?
