Give Them A Good Reason To Click And Read (And Subscribe)

You know, these “sponsored links” in Google search results on the right? Well, your blog posts are quite similar to these. The sponsored links units tells the readers/searchers what to click and why they should. Same with your blog posts. The sponsored ads tell the searchers the benefits and the features of whatever product they’re selling. Well on your blog you’re selling ideas and thoughts, so your posts titles should do exactly the same as the titles in the sponsored links section in Google. Give people a good reason to click and read.

When using services like Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing, a surefire way to get people to click is to write an interesting and catchy title, then on the second line write the benefits, and on the 3rd line the features. That’s pure Perry Marshall-esque. [Read more →]

PageRank Update

Seems SmartWealthyRich will have a PageRank 4!
I found this post today that Nate Whitehill wrote, regarding Googles’ PageRank update. There’s this nice tool you can use to see what your Page Rank will be when Big Brother will be done updating all its datacenters :)

So what will your new Page Rank be? :)

Google - Please Get Your Act Together

You probably know how much i like Google, but, after reading and reading, Google is starting to get a little on my nerves and is moving towards the top of my “WTF” list. I’ve read many many blog posts about this and felt i could share it with you guyz and galz, and also ask you what you think of all this. Is Google right or wrong?

Let me explain the situation a little more.

You probably know about google adsense (most webmasters, bloggers and surfers/visitors do), Adsense displays contextual ads on websites, and the site/blog owner earns money every time someone clicks on an “ads by Gooooogle” ad. Which is a great way to earn some extra cash from your blog or website.

The problem Google is facing now, is that a lot of site owners, bloggers and companies (some companies are fairly large and have some “authority”) are selling text link ads (which is another great way to monetize a website by the way), and Google doesn’t like that, at all! I suppose Google doesn’t like this because they don’t get any money from text links sold by other companies. And probably because this messes up their PageRank system, since it’s based on relevancy and not on “purchased traffic or links”.

So What Now?

Stop Wasting Money - The Perry Marshall Way

I’m a big fan of Perry Marshall, the well-known Google Adwords guru. I ordered his Guerilla Marketing for Hi-Tech Sales People promo book a couple weeks ago and finally recieved it. It was really worth the wait! Of course it’s promotional stuff i recieved, but still i learned just from reading the promo book! Perry is giving away so much free infos (yes this was shipped to me, free of charge!)

There’s this one quote i found in Perrys’ Guerilla Marketing promo book that says: […] no matter how motivated you are, the laziest guy in the world can still move more dirt with a borrowed bulldozer than you can with a shovel […]

People Will Do Business With You Because Of “You”!

Do you enjoy buying something from a company that is making you feel like you’re “one more sucker“? Or if you prefer the friendly version… “just a number“…?

I don’t! I really don’t!

When i buy something, call a customer service department, or check out a website i want to feel like i’m appreciated and not just a number. Take a look at what google did with their personalized thing! They are providing people with personalized search results, personalized homepage and all! That’s what i call a great way to make people feel at home!

In fact that’s the reason i “hire” google to deal with many aspects of my business. They provide me with relevant search results, Adwords, Adsense, and they offer me the opportunity to have my stuff personalized, it’s a win-win situation!

When you hire someone to do some work for you, do you want him/her to make you feel like you’re important? When you go to a store to buy something, you also want to feel important! Don’t you?

Writing Articles - Stats and Results

I wrote a couple posts before about writing articles and how it can help increase your PR, links to your site and drag traffic to your blog/site. We can all use more linkbacks to our sites! And having your links and articles (or even book reviews) posted on articles directories that are usually PR4 and higher can help a lot!

So i thought it would be a good to share my results on here, i took snapshots of some “articles stats” from different articles directories/databases, and as you’ll see it’s not getting a load of traffic, and not sending much to my blog either, but the snapshots i took are from sites where i posted between 2 and 4 articles, you can easily drag more traffic if you have 10-20 + articles submitted. But you’ll get the idea. Check out the images.

    One More Thing About Adwords

Check out my other post about marketing expenses and Google Adwords. I forgot (well not really) to add something in there. It’s a simple advice but it’s often overlooked! Here it goes!

When you start a new campaign in Adwords, you have to write a title, 2 descriptive lines of text and then the display url. Here’s what it looks like:

    Product Name - Title
    1st line of text, description
    2nd line of text, description
    www.displayurl.com

Ok let’s talk about the 2 description lines. You probably have seen a lot of ads in the sponsored links column in google that reads something like: “You want that stuff? We have it!”… well i’m guessing the people putting those ads are paying way too much for their keywords, or simply don’t care for targeted traffic…

One sure way to increase your click through rate (CTR) is to always write the benefits on the 1st description line and the features on the second one. Benefits and then features! Here’s an example:

Your Marketing Expenses Are Higher Than Your Revenues?

Google Adwords PCWell of course, if that’s the case, it’s not good! You probably would like the opposite (unless you enjoy giving money to google, yahoo and other companies.. i don’t!)… so you want more revenues and less marketing expenses!

How can you cut down on your marketing and advertising expenses then?

Well here are some tips that you may find useful! Those, of course, won’t garantee you results, ’cause what works for one may not work for the other, but it may still be useful! Also feel free to share what you know and what you do to cut down your marketing expenses, and give more advices on that subject. I think many people could benefit from that!

Ok, let’s concentrate on PPC advertising, which is one of the many ways i make money, promoting products and services, as an affiliate.
