A couple weeks ago I wrote a post titled Getting Rid Of The Middleman, and promised I would write a follow-up post on that. So here it is, short, but to the point! ;)

The idea was to put links for sale on Ebay, and see if it would work. Well the truth is it didn’t work. I got around 75 visitors to each of my Ebay auction pages (I had 3 different auctions, and all averaging 75-80 visitors, 7 days auction), which is ok. There I was, surfing the net, reading a couple of posts on some blogs, and I found this post on Elizabeth-Rose that talks about selling text links on Ebay. What a cool idea!

Most bloggers/writers I know use Text Link Ads to sell text links and increase their income (maybe you do?), but the thing is, TLA takes a huge cut, so if you sell a link for $30, you usually end up getting just $15 (more or less).

Don’t get me wrong, I really like TLA, basically because the support is great and they are well-known and have a lot of sites/blogs in their marketplace, but still… what if I could get that whole $30 instead of just $15? [Read more →]

No, not the girl, the website! You know that site that so many people seem to rely on? Yes that Alexa!

When you join services like Pay Per Post, ReviewMe or Sponsored Review, or even Text Link Ads, those companies will set a price for a review, which you can or cannot adjust manually depending on the service. Most “paid-to-blog” services will take into account 3 or 4 things when calculating the “suggested” price:

Not so long ago Matt Coddington sold Net Business Blog, for quite a nice chunk of change, $13,000. This blog was about 5 months old when he sold it, he started it in January 07. Which, in my opinion, is pretty impressive.

A blog is a business, as soon as you make your first dollar with your blog, it becomes a business. And of course, we’re all interested in finding out how much our blog is worth. There are many tools out there that can help us with that. Just have to keep in mind that the price tag you can put on your blog is the price someone is actually willing to pay for it. [Read more →]

I like it a lot when I make a mistake and learn from it. You know, when you finally “get it” and start moving forward? That I like even more! Everything falls into place, energy flows, you feel more creative, and get more things done, in less time. It’s like a puzzle, sometimes you have to try and make mistakes in order to get it right the next time.

Money - My Greatest Distraction?

One mistake I made in the past, was to worry too much and too often about money. Especially when I quit my day job, almost 3 years ago, and started working on my own business(es). All the time spent worrying about money, was time not well spent. Time I could’ve used to do something else, something more constructive, more productive. To me, money was a distraction!

Talk about a nice idea! The folks over at BlogCatalog got this idea of holding a fund-raising/charity bloggy event, DonorsChoose, a non-profit organization that specializes in charity and fund raising for students and schools is the organization that will manage the donations.

Whatever your field of expertise is, whatever the type of business you work in (or “on”), you are making money, or you’re working on that, even if it’s non-profit, it is still a business, and can be run as such. So you’re making money, or you’re on your way. But what if you could save some money right now, and re-invest that money to grow your business?

I put up a short list of ways you can save some money, so that it can help you grow your business. Simply take the money you save by following those tips and tricks (oh, and by the way, i offer no guarantees here, it’s my own experiences, but i certainly encourage you to try these at home!) and re-invest the money in advertising, marketing, office supplies, new computer and the likes. Do you tend to say yes every single time someone offers you something? A contract, a job, an opportunity. If that’s the case, you’re probably busy as hell, don’t know what “free time” means, and probably don’t make as much money as you’d like to.

If i always say yes, i will make more money - wrong
If i always say yes, i will get more contracts - wrong
If i always say yes, people will respect me more - wrong
If i always say yes, i will be more successful - wrong
If i always say yes, i’ll be the nice guy - wrong
If i always say yes, … ok you get the idea!

If you answer no, or at least take some time to think about what is being offered to you, you might end up making more money, have more free time, and reduce your stress level. Always accepting offers, and saying yes and agreeing, won’t make you more successful, it’s the opposite actually. You need some time to reboot and recharge your batteries. So make sure you know what’s good for you.
