8apps Invites - Fitter, Happier, More Productive

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

About 2 weeks ago, Scot from Meridian Crest sent me an invite to a (relatively) new service called 8apps.

How do you get all those beta invites Scot? :)

Leave a comment on my review post on FreelanceFolder, or drop me an e-mail, or leave a comment on here, and I’ll send an invite your way.

Pownce - Kinda Like Twitter But On Steroids

PownceYou probably already know who Kevin Rose is, he’s the founder of Digg, and he’s now working on a new project: Pownce. Scot Smith from Meridian Crest sent me an invite, cause right now Pownce is still in beta, and is “invite only”. Thanx Scot! :)

So now I can invite 6 people. If you’d like to try out this new service, please leave a comment below, and I’ll send you an invite. Then you can let me know what you think of Pownce. (I can only send 6 invites, first come, first served) [Read more →]

Stop Wasting Money - The Perry Marshall Way

I’m a big fan of Perry Marshall, the well-known Google Adwords guru. I ordered his Guerilla Marketing for Hi-Tech Sales People promo book a couple weeks ago and finally recieved it. It was really worth the wait! Of course it’s promotional stuff i recieved, but still i learned just from reading the promo book! Perry is giving away so much free infos (yes this was shipped to me, free of charge!)

There’s this one quote i found in Perrys’ Guerilla Marketing promo book that says: […] no matter how motivated you are, the laziest guy in the world can still move more dirt with a borrowed bulldozer than you can with a shovel […]

Sponsored Review: Madison Who’s Who

Madison Who's WhoDisclosure: As many of you may already know, sponsoredreviews.com is a “get paid to review blogs and websites” service. They launched not so long ago. I’ve wrote about “paid reviews” (pros and cons) before on smartwealthyrich.com and here are the 2 reasons i am reviewing Madison Who’s Who on here:

First, i get paid for reviewing it (which is not why i accepted to review it, more to test the system and get the feel of how it works). Second, i think my readers could benefit from knowing about it! I’m not doing this to make quick cash, since it takes some time to actually go and visit the site, contact the administrators of the site, read more, do some research, then write the review.

Wallhogs.com - That Is A Great Idea! - Review

Wallhogs.comOk, first i have to say this is not a sponsored review, meaning i’m not getting paid to write this. You can review Wallhogs if you join sponsoredreviews.com, but i decided to review it for free (though the folks at wallhogs gave me a nice linkback and review :) ), because i believe this site is offering something that is diffferent, special, useful, and it has this little something that made me go “umm, that is a great idea!“.

So here we go:

Wallhogs offers digital printing services, oversized that is! I’ve always wanted to have something similar to that to decorate my home office, and i’ll be ordering one of their reusable vinyls real soon. Since it won’t damage the wall or anything when removed, and it’s easier, faster and cheaper than hiring someone to paint something on that wall. And you can remove it and put it on another wall! Which is what i’m looking for!

More Than 1300 Future Millionaires Tried To Get In!

Tonight i was supposed to attend the Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind Evening Seminar with Robert Riopel as the speaker for the evening. But I couldn’t get in! I had my ticket with me (it was a free evening), had registered on their website, but there was room for only about 800 persons, and we were 1300+ waiting outside the conference room doors. So of course almost 500 of us had to go home. And i was one of the 500! Which is sad because i really wanted to attend this seminar and, of course, write about it on smartwealthyrich!

But you know what? I’m so happy i couldn’t get in!

Here’s why:

The folks at Peak Potentials Training were expecting 800 persons, but 1300+ showed up with tickets in hand! So, of course, to show their gratitude, appologize, and make sure not to make anyone unsatisfied or angry, they decided to give us all access to the whole week-end seminar in May in Montreal (valued at $1295)! For Free! How cool is that?

    Legit Or Scam?

To follow up on my last post about informational products, i’m wondering something… we see a lot of ads and sponsored links on the net, a lot of sales pages, and we all recieve a lot of junk mail (and even spam comments on blogs, which are deleted automatically most of the times, thanx to spam prevention plug-ins)…

Of all those sites and ads, there is certainly some scammers and not-so-legit sites out there (i found many)… Of course most of them are legit and there’s real people making honest money there! But how to avoid getting ripped-off?

I have my little habits when it comes to buying stuff online, here’s what i do, and what i look for:

  • Contact button or link - if i look for it for more than 5 minutes and see there’s none, i don’t buy.
  • Simple search on Google (something like “product name+scam”), and i’ll go read some forums and blogs and take what is said there into account, and decide if i wanna buy it or not.
  • Ask friends and fellow bloggers/partners what they think - a second opinion is always good!
  • If i’m not sure.. i’ll send an e-mail to the owner of the site or sales page and ask some questions, depending on the answers (if any) i’ll buy or not.
  • Secure encryption - you know this little lock that appears somewhere on the page (depending on your browser) either at the bottom or at the top in the status bar (often it’s a lock.. you know something that says “128 bits encryption” or “secure server”), make sure it’s there!
  • Methods of payment - Sure paypal is cool, but if it’s the only payment method available, i’ll think twice before buying.
  • And last but not least - i’ll rarely buy something after clicking a link in an e-mail! Re-enter the url of the site in your browser (you probably recieved that kind of e-mail before.. you click on the link, and your browser opens up, and there’s an ip adress in the adress bar instead or a real url.. well that’s a big no-no!)
  • How do you approach this? Do you look or search for those details? Or do you simply buy, and hope you’ll get the product you just purchased? Simple care can save you a lot of money!

Informational Products - Paid vs Free

The internet is “the” place to find information, no doubt about that! And a lot of the information you find on the net is free. There’s a ton-and-a-half websites out there offering free information (hey just like this site you’re visiting right now!), there’s articles directories, sites offering free ebooks, forums, and of course blogs… and there’s probably a hundred more “types” of sites offering free infos… so that’s a lot of free stuff!

So why are people writing ebooks, and selling them? Are they making any money with that? If you’re an affiliate… how much money do you earn marketing someone elses’ work?

If you find a site that charges for an informational product or a membership or something, you can probably find most of the information contained in that particular product/service, for free! If you refine your search a little!

So why spend time writing ebooks or developing informational products, since there’s so much free stuff out there?

  • Reason #1:
Not everyone knows how to search the web, there’s a lot of people who are new to the internet (the number of internet users is growing everyday), so if they’re looking for something, but can’t find it for free, chances are they will be willing to spend 40 or even 80 bucks to get the information they’re looking for!
  • Reason #2:
By writing ebooks, offfering a membership to a resource site or if by developing any other type of informational products (and making money doing so.. see reason number 1) you position yourself as an “expert” in your field. And gain recognition!
  • Reason #3:
If you promote someone elses’ informational product (affiliate marketing), you can surely make money! But if you are having difficulties with something, say PPC advertisement or something… well you can purchase an ebook, read it, and then.. back to business! Or if you’re good at marketing and promoting those products, you can surely earn a really decent income!
  • Reason #4:
If you are recognized as an expert (hey if you run a paid resource site or you wrote a book….you must be some kind of expert!), what restrains you from speaking at seminars and doing conferences on the topic/subject you know so much about?
  • Of course you can find a lot of free stuff online, and i encourage you to search and look a little deeper to find what you’re looking for! On the other hand, I think paying for an informational product is also a good decision! I purchased many ebooks and joined many programs myself, and i learned a lot more doing that than spending countless hours searching on google! There’s some information about certain topics that you can hardly find for free… well you can, if you feel like it, spend the whole night searching, and finding incomplete or innacurate information!
So paying for it is fine with me!

What about you? Do you think paying for information and/or informational products is ok? Or is it a waste of money?

umm.. wasting time.. wasting money… ? kinda hard to decide!

How Social Networking Sites Affects Marketing

With the quantity of social networking sites (or community sites, if you prefer) out there, and there’s a lot of those sites… it may affect the way you see and actually do marketing. But is that a good or a bad thing?

Well, for my part, I believe it’s a good thing! Let me explain why i see it that way, cause i’ve heard many marketers complain about the exponential growth of community sites!

Ok, first: marketing! What is the end result you’re looking for when marketing your products or affiliate stuff? Of course it’s to bring in more sales, and raise brand awareness, and pull more profits! One sure way to market stuff online is by using PPC services like google adwords, yahoo publishers network and others…

ppc vs network sites…well… that costs money! And if you’re not sure what you’re doing, you might end up paying more than you expected… not good huh? But on the other hand, if you know what you’re doing, you can surely pull nice profits from that! (provided you went through the “trial-and-error” thing, and learned either by reading books/ebooks, or got help from someone who knows how to do it and who is doing good! And how is willing to share his/her “secrets”.)

Say you are somewhat successful at marketing products and services online, you easily make good profits and all… but why not use community sites on top of that? Don’t get me wrong here.. keep doing what you do if it gives you a nice income!

So why should you get involved in community sites then?

    Read on…

You send traffic (paid traffic that is!) to an affiliate site or a sales page.. that’s great.. you get sales..that’s even better! But wouldn’t you like to know WHO is buying those products? Feedbacks and comments?

If you talk or chat with a potential customer, well that person will most likely buy your thing! There is a lot of money to be made from affiliate marketing and the likes using PPC advertisement, but if you personally recommend something to a single person, that person will most certainly buy it (if it suits their needs of course), and your “potential customers” will be able to ask you questions before they buy!

I’ve seen many many affiliate sales pages (you know the ones you find by clicking on sponsored links in google) with no contact button!! To me that’s a huge no-no! How do you expect someone to buy something if they have questions and there’s no “contact us” link? Many times i’ve read sales pages and found the product really interesting, and was almost ready to buy it, but i had just one single simple question… ooppss.. no “contact us” link! Too bad for them, i won’t buy it…

Reason why i think social networking sites like mybloglog, linkedin, ryze and even myspace (!!) are a good thing! I believe there is much more money to be made by talking, e-mailing or chatting directly with someone than by using PPC (unless you really know how it works!)… there is real people buying real products! Make them feel important, answer their questions, and be available for them is the least you can do! Using those community sites is simply a way to keep in touch with your customers (just like you would do with a blog!)!

    What do you think?
