Make Your Visitors Feel At Home

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Your blog is a free sample of your brand” That’s what David Armano said at SOBCon07 a couple of months ago. And he was so right.

So, if your blog is a sample of your brand, you certainly want to make a good first impression. Think “first time visitors“, but always keep in mind the regulars. For what reasons should people read your blog? How do you greet your first time visitors?

The Way You Write Plays A Big Part

My blog is like my home on the internet, where I write about stuff I like, my experiences, or my business/company, and I share my ideas and thoughts with people.

See, this sentence is written in the 1st person. While your blog may be about yourself or your company, always writing in the 1st person can sound like you’re always talking about yourself (me, myself, and I). While it’s really ok to write this way, a blog is also a place where people can discuss and share their thoughts. People learn from you, you learn from them. [Read more →]

What Mentors Can’t Teach You, Anti-Mentors Can: Shane has a great story on how anti-mentors can teach you a lot and what you learn from them usually will help you move forward and focus on the solutions instead of the problems. A really great read! :)

Exactly How I Got a Stampede of Web Traffic: Dean Hunt wrote a guest post for the milkman recently, explaining how he took a “normal” post, modified it, and got on the frontpage of Digg in no time. Negativity can help you make it on Digg, no doubts there, it worked for Dean, might work for you too! [Read more →]

Increase Your Search Engine Rankings By Deep Linking: Raj wrote another excellent article on his blog, on the topic of deep linking and the effects of deep linking on search engine rankings. Raj suggests linking to older posts in every single new one you write, which is something I know I should do more often.

Everyone Loves an Underdog: Good job on this one Shane! It’s true everyone loves an underdog, reading that post got me thinking of my businesses. And I love when a post makes me think like that. :) [Read more →]

The Comments Writing Project - Blogging Expenses

Comments Writing Project - SmartWealthyRich

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, as a lot of bloggers are starting group writing projects, memes and tag games. I really like group writing projects, like the Ultimate Guide To Productivity that Ben from Instigator Blog started some time ago. But I’m not a huge fan of memes, although I sometimes will participate in some.

What I have in mind is more like a “Comments Writing Project“. So instead of having to write a post on your own blog(s), you just have to write a comment on here, so even if your blog is not on the same topic as mine, you can still participate, since it doesn’t require you to write a post on your blog. Writing for Reddit: Steve wrote an excellent in depth article on how to write posts/articles that usually do well on Reddit. We all know that social media sites can send a massive amount of traffic, and Reddit is, I think, a nice place to start. Thanx for all the tips Steve!

Do Bloggers Always Follow Their Own Advice?: Ben from InstigatorBlog asks really good questions! Do you follow your own advices? I usually try to, but, like Ben, my blog archives are there to remind me! :) What about you? [Read more →]

My experience with paid reviews: I guess we are all interested in having a bigger audience, more readers, visitors, more traffic, and potentially more income from our blog(s). Kevin from BloggingTips ordered 8 reviews on popular blogs such as John Chow, PureBlogging and others and shares his experience with his readers. A really good read.

Widen Your Blog for Goodness Sake: I can definitely agree with Ryan on this one! A lot of people will say it’s better to keep a width of around 800px, but more and more people have a screen resolution of 1024×768, so widening your blog layout, to say 960-980px is not a crime anymore. :) This is a post that received quite a good number of comments, which are also worth reading. Surefire Ways To Get A Truck Load Of Comments On Your Blog Posts

Comments are kinda like the currency of the blogosphere. Some will say links are the ultimate currency, but I really think comments are way more important. At least to me.

It’s quite difficult to measure a blog’s success, there is no scientific formula or equation, but the number of comments a blog receives surely gives a good idea.

Christine from Create Business Growth wrote:

Jonathan’s posts are notorious for having tons of comments

wow, now that feels good to read! :)

I guess almost every blogger writer out there could use more comments and more feedback from their visitors and readers. So how can it be done? [Read more →]

10 Sales and Marketing Tips I learned from Strippers: This post is absolutely brilliant! Talk about a magnetic and catchy headline! A lot of people are writing things like “tips I learned from this and that”, but what is it that you learned from strippers? Read this post, it’s well worth it! And controversial too!

The Ultimate Sneaky Tip to Increase Visitors and Comments: Armen wrote an interesting post on how to increase comments on your blog. How do you usually visit the blogs you read? By typing the address in your browser, clicking through in your feed reader? Why not visit those blogs by clicking on the links in your own comment section? Most bloggers check their stats regularly, when you see hits coming from another blog, chances are you’ll check out that blog right? [Read more →]

14 Ways To Procrastinate Productively: Structured procrastination? How does that sound? John wrote about how procrastination can actually be a good thing if you procrastinate well and structure and plan ahead. Maybe i should start postponing stuff, and get more done! :)

Building Your Business By Investing In People Rather Than Stuff: It’s no secret that most of the companies that failed and closed doors or are struggling financially invested in stuff instead of people. The employees are the life force of any company. Investing in people (the right people) rather than stuff is a no-brainer, but still a lot of companies don’t “get it“. [Read more →]
