Will Cre8buzz Generate Buzz For You?

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Cre8buzzYou may have heard about this new site, they were in private beta (invites only) and they just launched yesterday, it’s called Cre8buzz. I’ve been waiting for the launch since Antman told me about it, and finally they’re up and running, congrats to the team! (and thanks a lot to Ritu of Work N Play for the invite) :)

So What Is It Exactly?

Cre8buzz is basically a social networking/community site. You create a profile, add some details, a picture and voila! But the folks at Cre8buzz kinda pushed things a little further, and you can also add podcasts, blog posts, create a video gallery and customize the looks of your profile page. [Read more →]

Why So Much Buzz Around That?

There I was this morning, checking my e-mails, wanting to read what everyone had posted during the week-end. And to my surprise, everyone wrote about BlogRush. Well maybe not “everyone“, but of all the blogs I read, 27 wrote about BlogRush.

I signed up to BlogRush this week-end after reading about it on Zoomstart, it seemed interesting so I installed the thing, and now 3 days later, I realize that well… I haven’t received any traffic yet.

What Is It All About?

If haven’t heard about it yet (you haven’t????), BlogRush is a new traffic exchange service, created by John Reese who runs Income.com. John is like a super online marketer.

The idea is you sign up to BlogRush (which is free), install a widget on your blog, and then that widget will show links to relevant blogs. And your link appears on other blogs. Simply a traffic exchange service. The big difference I find is they’re “relevant” links, as opposed to many traffic exchange programs where you have no idea where the traffic comes from. Kinda like a blogroll exchange but you don’t necessarily know those blogger… humm… [Read more →]

8apps Invites - Fitter, Happier, More Productive

About 2 weeks ago, Scot from Meridian Crest sent me an invite to a (relatively) new service called 8apps.

How do you get all those beta invites Scot? :)

Leave a comment on my review post on FreelanceFolder, or drop me an e-mail, or leave a comment on here, and I’ll send an invite your way.

Widgets, Blidgets And Advertising - Do You Really Need Those?

Most of us already have the Mybloglog recent visitors widget on our blog(s), and many of us also have the BlogCatalog neighborhood widget. It’s fun to see who’s visiting our blog, Isn’t it?

Of course there are many others you could add to your sidebar. But thing is, people might leave your blog even before it’s finished loading. My guess is you don’t want that.

Social Networking/Blogging Widgets

The Mybloglog and Blogcatalog ones really go well together, you can see that in my sidebar. They look quite similar and you can customize the look, so it’s pretty cool.

Unfortunately when one of those 2 is down, your sidebar won’t load completely. Probably many people took them off their sidebar for that simple reason. I still use them, and I have to say I’m quite happy with them, compared to other services. [Read more →]

I’m Not A Big Fan Of Blog/Product Reviews - Here’s An Alternative

You probably noticed that I rarely post product or blog reviews on my blog. I’m not a huge fan of ReviewMe, Sponsored Review, Pay Per Post and other similar services, they’re great, but not for me.

Reason is quite simple, I usually don’t read reviews posted on other blogs, so I don’t see why I should post any on here. I don’t feel it would be relevant, and I’m not sure it would be useful to my readers, unless some product or blog totally rocks.

I did write some reviews in the past, but quickly realized it wasn’t my thing. So I simply stopped. And I must say I’m happy I made that decision. [Read more →]

Never Underestimate The Power Of Personal Recommendation

Every single day bloggers write posts, and often link out to other blogs, and recommend articles to their readers, which is something I do every Sunday with my “smart posts worth reading” posts.

First, I do this because I really liked the posts, and also because I like to give some exposure to other bloggers, and I think the articles/post I link to are relevant, and I hope my readers enjoy them. It’s like a personal recommendation, from me to my readers. And many many bloggers do something similar, often called “Speed Linking” or “Link Love” or something similar. [Read more →]

Why I Feel Like Breaking Up With Alexa

No, not the girl, the website! You know that site that so many people seem to rely on? Yes that Alexa!

When you join services like Pay Per Post, ReviewMe or Sponsored Review, or even Text Link Ads, those companies will set a price for a review, which you can or cannot adjust manually depending on the service. Most “paid-to-blog” services will take into account 3 or 4 things when calculating the “suggested” price:

  • Alexa Rank
  • Technorati Rank
  • Page Rank
  • RSS Subscribers
  • I’m really fine with 3 of those, the only one I have a problem with is Alexa. And it’s for one simple reason: Not every visitor has the alexa toolbar installed. [Read more →]

Pownce - Kinda Like Twitter But On Steroids

PownceYou probably already know who Kevin Rose is, he’s the founder of Digg, and he’s now working on a new project: Pownce. Scot Smith from Meridian Crest sent me an invite, cause right now Pownce is still in beta, and is “invite only”. Thanx Scot! :)

So now I can invite 6 people. If you’d like to try out this new service, please leave a comment below, and I’ll send you an invite. Then you can let me know what you think of Pownce. (I can only send 6 invites, first come, first served) [Read more →]

Think Twice Before You Launch A New Service - MyBlogLog

I really like Mybloglog! I’ve been a member since February this year, and so far my experience with the service has been nothing but positive and interesting. They added many great features, but recently they launched a new one, the community messaging system. Not a good move at all! I wonder how people can come up with ideas like this… Honestly, the last thing I need is more e-mails, I receive enough already, and I definitely don’t need that. Please read, and share your thoughts on this, I would really like to have your feedback.

    So What’s This New Feature?

At first it may sound like a great tool, you can message your community members to tell them how much you appreciate their support, and let them know about your new posts, or stuff like that. But unfortunately it opens the door to spammers. On the day they launched the new service, I received around 110 message from the new “community messaging” thing at MBL. [Read more →]

    New Bling Bling… er… Design I Mean!

Well, as you can see I changed my blog design! If you’re reading my blog through RSS, please take some time to visit the site and check it out, and leave your comments, it’s always appreciated.

This new design is still based on the Cutline theme, but it’s a modified 3 columns version. I wanted something cleaner and with more whitespace, and I think it does the job just fine. I tested the new design in Safari, Firefox and Opera on Mac OSX 10.4.9 and with Browser Cam for Windows OS and browsers, cause I don’t have access to a PC, so it is expected that there will be some minor bugs, which will be fixed if you let me know! :) [Read more →]
