Guest Blogging - Does It Rock?

Hey, seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Yes it does! One sure-fire way to get more attention to your own blog is to guest blog on other blogs. Sounds pretty simple, yet a lot of writers don’t do it. But why?

  • Afraid the article/post won’t get published
  • Don’t know where to guest blog
  • Not sure what to blog about
  • Don’t know the blog owner
  • Don’t want to write for free
  • Not sure if it’s worth the efforts
  • Don’t have time
  • Writing For Free? No Way!

We all want to be rewarded for our efforts, money is one thing, but what about increasing your readership and getting more exposure? It’ll probably make you more money in the long run anyway. It sure is fun to get paid for writing a post, but it depends on your goals. [Read more →]

Writing Kick-Ass Posts When You’re In A Rush

Writers get writer’s block, and bloggers get blogger’s block.

But what if you do have a lot of ideas, and know what you want to write about, but don’t have time? Can you still run a blog and update it, say, 5 times a week?

    Sure you can.

I find that my best posts (the ones that got the most traffic and comments) were written when I was in a rush, as in “I have to leave the house in 20 minutes, gotta write something“.

Start With Writing A Headline And Sub-Headlines

Often when you start by writing the headline, it’s easier to write the post (works for me). So, choose a topic related to your niche, write a headline (doesn’t have to be perfect yet), then write around 5 sub-headlines, so it’ll be easier to write the whole post. [Read more →]

Make Your Visitors Feel At Home

Your blog is a free sample of your brand” That’s what David Armano said at SOBCon07 a couple of months ago. And he was so right.

So, if your blog is a sample of your brand, you certainly want to make a good first impression. Think “first time visitors“, but always keep in mind the regulars. For what reasons should people read your blog? How do you greet your first time visitors?

The Way You Write Plays A Big Part

My blog is like my home on the internet, where I write about stuff I like, my experiences, or my business/company, and I share my ideas and thoughts with people.

See, this sentence is written in the 1st person. While your blog may be about yourself or your company, always writing in the 1st person can sound like you’re always talking about yourself (me, myself, and I). While it’s really ok to write this way, a blog is also a place where people can discuss and share their thoughts. People learn from you, you learn from them. [Read more →]

Guest Post On BloggingTips - CSS Galleries And Traffic

Hey folks, just a quick one to let you know I wrote a guest post on BloggingTips and it got published today. Have a look, read, and feel free to leave a comment! :)

Most bloggers are looking for more traffic and a wider audience, so I wrote this post on how to get traffic from CSS galleries. Many blogs I read used this technique to get the ball rolling, and get traffic when they started. Mixing this with social networking can definitely bring in a more than decent number of visitors.

    Hope you like the post!

    Take care!

The Comments Writing Project - Blogging Expenses

    Comments Writing Project - SmartWealthyRich

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, as a lot of bloggers are starting group writing projects, memes and tag games. I really like group writing projects, like the Ultimate Guide To Productivity that Ben from Instigator Blog started some time ago. But I’m not a huge fan of memes, although I sometimes will participate in some.

What I have in mind is more like a “Comments Writing Project“. So instead of having to write a post on your own blog(s), you just have to write a comment on here, so even if your blog is not on the same topic as mine, you can still participate, since it doesn’t require you to write a post on your blog. Looking Back, Are Some Of Your Older Posts Useless?

I was reading a post on Antbag that questions the removal of old blog posts like site updates posts and ones that didn’t perform well, to improve your ratio of useful posts versus less useful ones.

Anthony’s post was in response to another post Leo Babauta (who runs the popular Zen Habits blog) wrote on North X East.

Should you delete older posts that don’t add a lot of value, and could be considered “useless” by some of your readers? Is deleting older posts common practice? [Read more →]

Surefire Ways To Get A Truck Load Of Comments On Your Blog Posts

Comments are kinda like the currency of the blogosphere. Some will say links are the ultimate currency, but I really think comments are way more important. At least to me.

It’s quite difficult to measure a blog’s success, there is no scientific formula or equation, but the number of comments a blog receives surely gives a good idea.

Christine from Create Business Growth wrote:

Jonathan’s posts are notorious for having tons of comments

wow, now that feels good to read! :)

I guess almost every blogger writer out there could use more comments and more feedback from their visitors and readers. So how can it be done? [Read more →]

Content Theft - How I Recently Had To Deal With That

CopyrightI recently found out some blog copied one of my post without my permission, and without any credits or link. Least I can say is I wasn’t happy about that. I was thinking about writing a post to let people know about this, with details and everything, but honestly, after reading more on the topic, and the recent “DoshDosh vs SEOposition” thing, I’m not sure it would’ve been a good idea to go and write about that on here. As it would not have be relevant, and I prefer not to go there anyway.

Instead let’s see what can be done when you find out your content has been copied without your permission. Just remember I’m not a plagiarism/copyright expert. [Read more →]

Give Them A Good Reason To Click And Read (And Subscribe)

You know, these “sponsored links” in Google search results on the right? Well, your blog posts are quite similar to these. The sponsored links units tells the readers/searchers what to click and why they should. Same with your blog posts. The sponsored ads tell the searchers the benefits and the features of whatever product they’re selling. Well on your blog you’re selling ideas and thoughts, so your posts titles should do exactly the same as the titles in the sponsored links section in Google. Give people a good reason to click and read.

When using services like Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing, a surefire way to get people to click is to write an interesting and catchy title, then on the second line write the benefits, and on the 3rd line the features. That’s pure Perry Marshall-esque. [Read more →]
