Creative Zen - Your Left And Right Brain

You’re working on something (working on the redesign of your blog for example) and everything seems to be perfect and your thoughts are flowing, and you seem to be able to think rational and emotional at the same time, and get more done.
I read this post over at Pearsonified, and must say i enjoyed the read a lot!
Left Or Right?
Your left brain is the rational thinking and practical one. While your right brain is the creative and emotional one. We are kinda used to having our left brain work more than our right brain because of the fast-paced world we live in. But it is indeed possible, to train yourself to have both brains work in harmony and balance.
When you are in a zen-like state, your left and right brains actually are working together instead of one at a time. So you definately want that to happen as often as possible, because you are more productive, and feel better about it! Sometimes one of our brain will take over, and you have to know which one is the most active one. For some folks the left brain is the most active one (dominant and analytical people), while for others it’s the right brain (expressive and creative people). What you want is to have both sides to work together.
There are many ways you can “workout“, and what you’re looking for is better harmony between both sides of your brain. One way to achieve that, or at least get an idea of what side of your brain is the prominent one, is to brainstorm or write down your thoughts. Simply close your eyes, relax, then go ahead and start writing/typing! You may write for 10 minutes or for an hour, it doesn’t matter, what you want here is to find out which side of your brain is the most active, and at the same time this exercice will help improve the communication between both sides of your brain, and will most likely help you reach that zen-like state.
When you’re finished, read what you just wrote, and you’ll see which side is the most active. If you wrote short ideas, abstract things, thoughts, not much details, maybe your right brain is more active than the left. If, on the other hand, you wrote about specific stuff, lots of small details, well formed sentences with punctuation, perfect grammar, and rational ideas, your left brain is more active than the right.
Doing this everyday for a couple of days/weeks (even just 15 minutes a day) will definitely help! And when you reach that creative zen-like state, you’ll just know, because you’ll have a feeling things are in balance and more harmonious.
What are your thoughts on that? Have you ever tried something similar? I actually work on that and do these exercices almost every day since i read Chris Pearsons’ post, and the results so far are pretty good, and i feel a lot better and more balanced, which are always good signs. :)
