First Attempt At Creating A WordPress Theme

I’ve been working on that for a couple of days now, reading everything I could find about building a wordpress theme (I’m really used to customizing a theme, but building a new one is something I never really attempted before). So I finally decided to do it. The theme is not ready yet, it will be available real soon though.
I’d like to have your opinion, and if you have some ideas that would be great.
It’s a minimalist theme, white background (if you haven’t noticed already, I love whitespace :) ), content-sidebar layout, and not really any images except the body background image. It loads pretty quick, and is CSS valid (wanna make it Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional, so I’m working on that too).
I tested the theme in Safari (mac), Firefox, Opera and IE7 (will check with IE6 soon)
Oh, and I need a title for that theme, so if you have any idea, lemme know :)

Looks great :D Nice and simple yet professional looking…From my experience and a newbie at all of the WordPress stuff I really enjoy a theme that I can download that’s already premade with widgets, options, and the popular plugins. Should help you out a bit :D Keep up the great work.

I like the theme a lot, it looks great! I’d call it Purely Rich or something like that. I know you want to rank high in google for the keywords smart, wealthy, & rich. Maybe try to incorporate one of those words?

Hi Gregg, thanks a lot for the ideas/suggestions. Of course the theme will be widget ready, maybe I’ll release 2 versions, a basic one, and one packed with plugins and all (and maybe another one, but with the sidebar on the left) :)

Where can I find your theme for download?
Every time I try to attempt and create my own wordpress theme, it becomes to complicated
Hi CrashLab, the theme should be available for download this week-end or early next week :)
The Wild1, well it’s not that complicated, I went through a lot of trial and errors, you can start by customizing an existing theme to fit your blog, and then at some point create your own from scratch :)
You just can’t go wrong with black and white. I think it looks really nice and I agree with Roberta about the name…..incorporating something from your websites title………like “Simply Smart”…….? Anyway, cool work man! I feel the replacement of my theme on your blog coming….hahaha!!!

Very cool, simple, clean look. Less is more. Too many of us have way too much going on within our sites.

I think it looks great! I’m also a fan of minimalistic themes. Even though there aren’t a lot of images it still looks nice.
I really like the theme. If you give the image of you along, and make it the favicon, I’d call it Jonny Rocker. When you do others (this one is really clean and easy, though obviously I can’t see it in action), you could brand it with another picture of you and call it something else (maybe a red one being Jonny Appleseed?)

I am getting into this area too, but i am figuring out how to make a featured post and many other things for my blog, to be more like using wordpress as a CMS.
i am going to give it a shoot and create one wordpress theme from scratch.

Such a nice wordpress theme you made! I wish I have the talent myself. But as it is, I am a non-teckie on this field, and I can only content myself to being prolific on the writing and posting aspect of blogging. I would love to do and create my own blogs, but as it is, I can only be content on using free flatforms (blogger.com).
