Guest Post On BloggingTips - CSS Galleries And Traffic

Hey folks, just a quick one to let you know I wrote a guest post on BloggingTips and it got published today. Have a look, read, and feel free to leave a comment! :)
Most bloggers are looking for more traffic and a wider audience, so I wrote this post on how to get traffic from CSS galleries. Many blogs I read used this technique to get the ball rolling, and get traffic when they started. Mixing this with social networking can definitely bring in a more than decent number of visitors.
Hope you like the post!
Take care!

I think that’s a great way to gain traffic… if you don’t use a ready made template, that is. :)
Hi Grace, it is definitely a great way to get more traffic, especially if you design your blog from scratch, or your blog is web-design oriented.
:)
We’ve managed to get some good traffic bumps from a few CSS gallery entries. It wasn’t as good as from StumbleUpon, or nearly as good as Digg, but was noticeable. The only problem I have with this kind of traffic is that it is rarely quality traffic. It doesn’t convert into sales on e-commerce sites, and rarely converts into subscribers on others. There are exceptions to the rule of course, but on the whole, it’s only good for stat-building, not revenue production.
Hi Robb, good points, though I’m not a big fan of Digg traffic, SU does rock! I can’t say if this type of trafic works well for e-commerce sites, but from what I know it does help for a blog, to get rss subscribers and regular readers, or simply to get a little more exposure and some PR juice :)
I went and read your article and it was good advice. The only problem I have is validating my site. Some of the widgets I use keep messing me up plus a few other things. Anyways I like your site and your advice. I joined your community on BlogCatalog.
Hi Judy, good point regarding the widgets, many of them will mess up with the validation of the code. Sure removing those widgets would help validating the code, but I guess if the only thing that doesn’t validate is a widget it shouldn’t matter too much for css galleries (not 100% sure about this though)
I remember reading an article about CSS galleries a few months ago (can’t remember the source) - so I went off and submitted my blog to a few.
Low and behold, I got accepted by a few. I would estimate that over a two month period I saw direct traffic from the CSS galleries send me over 2,500 visitors.
I’m not sure how targeted they were, but when you are just getting started you don’t really care about that!

Blogrolls are very good for websites to get more traffic. I see so many sites using this I wish I can only imagine how beneficial it might be.
Martin, hey 2,500 visitors is good, I’d love to get my blog listed on css mania or one of those huge css galleries sites.
Buy Websites (what’s your name by the way?), blogrolls are great, although it’s more like “personal rcommendations” that to actually get traffic (imo)
;)
I’d love to get into some of those blogrolls!!!
