As you can see I changed the design (again) on SmartWealthyRich. Yesterday I put a new design up, but, ya know, you have to listen to your people, so I decided to make some changes.
I know Snoskred was a big fan of the green arrow I had in the logo before, so I decided to put the arrow back, not green, but it’s there ;)
Rob thought the big “seal” in the logo was a little overwhelming, and looking back I have to agree, so that is gone!
Baloot said the text in the header was a little hard to read, I think it’s fixed now!
Betshopboy said he really like the last design, and wasn’t sure about the “seal” with the logo in the “yolk”, so that’s gone, and replaced with something more “classy” :)
Some of you really liked the new design, some of you didn’t, so I hope you like this one better! Lemme know! I’m always open to suggestions!

i love the new design!! its not like it was a BIG change!! u kept ur blog clean and easy on the eye… but i would say it looks even more professional… i kinda loved the arrow too… but its still here i spotted it!! :D

I thought the header looks great, more professional and I love the seal. However, I feel the intro on your header is a bit long. Just my 2 cents ;)
I love the overall look and feel - it’s very stylish. I personally feel that nowadays only 3 design strategies work - ‘wow strategy’ (like this!), the ‘tongue in cheek’ strategy (like my own site which is ‘cartoony’ maskedguru.com) or the ‘pretend beginner’ site, which you can see everywhere, especially from people trying to sell something. I’d leave this as it is now, if I was you!

I’m not very keen on the header.
I love the white-space. I love the font size and how exceptionally readable the site it. I am completely hooked on the beautiful RSS and email subscription buttons. In fact I like pretty much everything…else…
I’m just having difficulty with Smart Wealthy Rich positioned twice at the top. I don’t know which is the blog title. I know that it is a problem because if you remove the welcome, it leaves a whole block of black-space unaccounted for, and that may not be too attractive - but maybe a more horizontal title image could be designed…or something…
Anyway, no-one else seems to have commented on it, so it can’t be that affecting - just my two penn’orth.

truthfully, it’s great. simple = easy to read and that makes me want to read it. but why did i have to click to read more? did you not see the response over at CBG to this issue? ha! that part wasn’t fun, but as far as looks go, very cool.
I like the new theme. It’s nice and simple! You might be able to add another sidebar? I’m not professional though!
Remember, design matters, but it’s the content that matters most! :D

Rory, great suggestions, thanks a lot for pointing that out, I changed the font size of my H1 tag, so it blends better and looks more like it’s part of the text in the header. Now it doesn’t look too much like SmartWealthyRich is there 2 times, it’s less evident. (I think) ;)
Steven, thanx! Yeah I wanted to keep a similar look, I just was getting tired of the 2 sidebars layout, for some blogs it fits perfectly, but I wanted to go back to basics :)

Erin, haha you got me worried for a second there. I know what you mean regarding the “read more” thing”, I have full rss feeds on, but on the homepage I really like to have that “read more” link, after a while I realized people rarely clicked on post titles to read more, so that helps improve the number of page views, and I also like that because a click is like a “vote of confidence” from the readers. I may change this eventually though, always gotta experiment :)
Gregg, sure I could add a second sidebar no prob, that’s why I wanted to use the Networker theme Anthony created, the default layout has 2 sidebars, so I just removed one, but I could always go back and put the second one back on.

That did it, Jon. Now the first thing my eye sees is the title on the left - and the text on the right looks like an appealing welcome. Nailed it in one!
‘vote of confidence’- hadn’t thought about the ‘read more…’ issue from that angle. interesting and you got me thinking…
