Names are important - Remember them!

I was talking with my best buddy a couple days ago about the importance of remembering names. Not that i really have a problem with that, i can easily remember and associate names, but i know how important it is to people, so i always try my best to remember them!
Like Dale Carnegie wrote:
Remember that a person’s name is, to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
Remembering names could get you that next big contract or deal! Same goes with URLs! Who needs a rss news reader when you can remember all the urls of the sites you have in there?

Yeah I totally agree with your post. Unfortunately, this is one of my worst areas. I can’t remember ppl’s names for anything! You could tell me when I first meet you and less than a minute later i have already forgotten. My hate my terrible memory lol
But the worst is when someone you havent seen in a while comes up to you and calls you by the wrong name… do you just play along, or correct them?
haha, yeah it happens to me too sometimes, someone i haven’t seen in a while calls me by another name.. usually Sebastian, or Philip.. ok my last name is Phillips, so i understand that one, but i don’t get why someone would call me Sebastian! lol oh well
My mother calls me by the name of my dog from time to time, which is kinda funny!
I usually play along, and then around the end of the conversation, when i’m about to leave or something, i’d just say”oh.. by the way it’s Jonathan, not Sebastian” and the other person will remember it next time for sure!
I totally agree with that, but I’m just like shane - having lot of difficulty remembering ppl name. It’s something that I really wanted to work on. I found it very embarrassing sometimes - when people call me by name and I say hehee… you are???
hehe, i know what you mean Calvin! When it happens to me, i just tell the person something like “hey i’m really sorry, i have diffficulty remembering names, can you help me out with that, and remind me your name?” and it works! :) I don’t have much problem remembering names, but it happens sometimes.
