Not An Easy Post To Write - SWR Is For Sale
Add to : Del.Icio.Us / Reddit / Digg / Stumble Upon
My last post about dofollow was about a month ago, and as you can see SWR is still a dofollow blog. I’m really sorry it took me so long to write again on this blog, things have been pretty crazy (but a good kind of ‘crazy‘).
So What’s Going On?
A lot of things. Most of you already know I started a multi-author blog a couple months ago, thing are going really good. That’s keeping me very busy. And I’ve also been very busy designing and customizing blogs, and building my portfolio site, which is not yet fully functional but should be soon (I have no idea how it looks like in IE, I’m still working on it, but it should look ok in FireFox).
And I’m also spending a lot of time in the recording studio with my band working on some cool guitar licks :) In fact starting January we will most likely start doing more shows and release our album and 3 of our songs will be up on Itunes in about a month from now. So that too is keeping me busy.
So all of this means less time for this blog (SWR), unfortunately.
I guess you see where I’m getting at with all this.
Yes, SmartWealthyRich is for sale. This is my first blog, and I’m really sad to have to let it go, but I’m sure you folks want more than 1-2 posts per month.
After seeking advice from good friends of mine I decided it was time to write this post to let you guyz know what’s up. Thanks to Liz, Maki, Christine, Ritu for the great tips and advices on IM, really appreciated! :)
Is SWR On Sitepoint?
Not yet, I’m writing this post first to let you know what’s going on, and also because asking you guyz first seemed like the right thing to do. If you’re interested or know someone who would be interested, please drop me an e-mail. In a couple of days I’ll maybe put it up on Sitepoint, we’ll see.
Stats and Numbers
You’re also probably wondering if I have a price in mind, the answer is yes, but please send me an e-mail.
And you maybe want to know about stats, traffic, rankings and all, here we go:
- Page Rank: PR5
- Alexa: 90,471
- Technorati Rank: 5,604
- Technorati Authority: 818
- Traffic: average over the last 6 months 13,500/month (around 400-450 per day)
- Digg frontpage once for this post
- RSS: around 500 subscribers (see the feed chicklet at the top for today’s figure)
- Revenues: please send me an e-mail
You can also search on dnScoop, Yahoo Site Explorer says there are over 26,000 pages that contains links to SWR. I started this blog in February 2007 (10 months ago).
I also released a free WordPress theme some time ago, which can be included in the sale unless the buyer doesn’t want it (I’ll still provide support for this, whether it’s hosted on SWR or on my portfolio site). As for the content, if there are some posts the buyer don’t want to keep I’d like to use them elsewhere (that can be discussed later on anyway).
I can also customize or design a new theme if the new owner wants something a little different, and I would of course help the new owner with the transaction, setup, WP upgrade and all. As for hosting (I’m with MediaTemple) I really don’t mind if the site stays on my server, but if the new owner wants to move it over to another host I’ll be happy help.
Your Turn To Talk
I usually end my posts with a ‘your turn to talk‘ paragraph, and of course I had to for this post. I’m sure I forgot some things in my post, but let’s start a conversation and talk about it in the comment section, that’s what this blog is about anyway :)
What do you think?
Jon

hi, This is very sad to know that this website is on sale. We are gonna miss you. But i’m happy to know that you have started something of your own too. All the best for it .
Would be looking forward to listen to your songs.
bye
Hi Laura, thanks for the nice comment. I’m gonna miss this blog too (it’s my first blog after all, I learned a lot with it), I really wish I had more time on my hands.
:)
Jon, would hate to see you let go off of SWR but you gotta do what you gotta do. I can imagine you not having time with all the things you do ( I don’t know how you do it ).
Hopefully, whoever buys SWR keeps the conversational and networking part of it alive. Goodluck with the sale, if you need any help let me know. Always ready to help :-)
Hi Jon,
All the best for the sale. Even though it’s kind of pity that you’re letting SWR go, but I’m sure you’ll be able to focus more on your other endeavours and freelancefolder, which by the way is the talk of the town.
Good luck with everything!
Cheers,
Ellesse
Jon,
It’s a grand and hopeful thing that you move on to. I, too, am sad to see you leave SWR, possibly more than most, because of the ties I have to it and to you.
However, I know your heart takes you to a great future. I’m every time I think of what you’ll be doing. :)
Jonathan,
You know that I’ve been a fan for a long time, but I also see that an incredible amount of awesome content is coming out of your new site. I know that we’ll still have access to your knowledge, as well as that of the other authors at FreelanceFolder.
This is a great site, and anyone in the internet marketing/money making biz would be smart to snatch it up!
ohh thats soo sad… u know i was wondering if you had given up on blogging… i guess its a good idea to sell if you don’t have the time to keep it up!!
anyway good luck for all your current projects…
Wow Jon… this is a hard post to read! However, we’ve got to evolve in life in order to truly achieve our dreams. It’s not like you’re out of the blogosphere - not in the least! You’re more involved in the blogosphere than ever before and spreading your time too thin is never a good thing. I admire your willingness to give all that you’ve got to your current projects. Whoever buys this blog will be adopting a very loyal audience!
Hi Jonathan
I think you’ll regret it if you sell it!
Having said that please would you send me details of ballpark figures - I may have a client who might be interested…
I’ll be really interested to see how this goes for you Jon! My blog is only PR 4, and technorati is no where near that level, but traffic numbers are. Hmm, good luck!
DK
Ritu, thanks a lot for the nice words, I’m really sad to have to let it go, but like you said I don’t even know how I manage all this :)
Hi Ellesse Thanks so much, really appreciate it. Sometimes you gotta focus your energies on less things in order to make these work :)
Liz, you know you’re the first person I met when I started blogging, and you helped me so much, I learned so many things from you, wow! I could never thank you enough! :)
Hey Aaron, thanks a bunch bro! And of course you’ll also be able to read my ramblings on my design site and from time to time on my personal blog hehe
Confessing7girl, hehe I”m not giving up, just making sure I have enough time and focus more and on less projects.
Hi Gids, thanks, I sent you an e-mail with some more infos.
DebtKid, I’ll certainly write a post about it once the sale closes (if the new owner agrees) :)
Congrats, I *think*. Happy for you…we will have to check itunes and download your new songs!!! Can’t wait for that. Good Luck!!
LOL great trick john, love it - I will read your post tomorrow bro.
Damn - well that is good though FF has grown quite a bit and that is great news that you are improving and moving to better projects - nice work on SWR and FF and the new blog designs! hope to see you around soon - make sure you keep in touch bro
Jon,
Although I would love for you to hold on to SWR I think it is a wise decision. If you just don’t have the time for why let someone else take it and run with it? Hopefully you get some nice offers. Good luck.
I was just wondering where you went off to, and didn’t even realize freelance folder was yours. I’m sure you’ll do fine, and kind of a bummer that I only found the site for a few posts.
Atleast maybe you can put up more sites in Ritu’s game =)
Just wondering how do you go about selling a blog?
I have been reading for weeks but never posted
good luck with selling your blog
Hi Robin, thank you so much! We got a couple songs on Myspace (I’ll reply to your e-mail and send you the link too) :)
Hey Ian, thanks a bunch bro, will keep in touch for sure, I’m not leaving the ’scene’ just trying to focus more on specific things :)
Steven, thanks a lot for writing about this on the VandelayDesign blog, really appreciated!
Hi Mitch, don’t worry I’m sure the new owner will keep writing cool posts, and depending on the arrangement I’m also willing to write a couple posts to help get things started again and help the new owner, to give him/her some time to get comfortable with everything.
Mitch, forgot something, yes me and Ritu will be working on some projects together :)
Hrmm your almost making it sound like Ritu will be the new owner. Well as long as you guys have a game that I can spend time on I shall continue stalking you to your new projects muahaha.
Hi Mitch, hehe well me and Ritu have other projects ‘under construction’, but no not SWR
Jon,
Just curious, but did you create this blog with the intention of selling it in the future?
Also, how much does a blog like this sell for?
These are honest questions, as I don’t mean to instigate anything. Answer only if you feel comfortable!
Hi Turtie, honestly I think to really put a price tag on a blog there are many things to take into consideration, PR, rss subscribers, rankings, design, community around the blog, monthly income and a lot of other things. I know some blogs with a lower PR, less rss subscribers, and generating around the same money as SWR sold for 5-6K, and other more popular blogs sold for a lot less ($1,500-2,000), it’s really what someone is willing to pay for it I guess.
I didn’t create SWR with the intention of selling it, this is my first blog and I put a lot of efforts into it, it’s just that I need to focus on other things :)
[…] out all the details at Smart Wealthy Rich, and enjoy Jon’s new site, Freelance Folder. […]
Jon,
SWR was one of the very first blogs I was looking at and learning from since my first days in the blogosphere. And you’ve proved to be as reliable as your posts with your willingness to help. I hope the new owner(s) will continue to spread the networking tradition of SWR.
I understand you’re selling SWR for all the right reasons, yet…. what I’d like to shout right now is, “Will Someone Wake Me Up Please? This Is Not Happening!!!”
Hi Jon,
Good luck for your future venture. But I don’t really understand your decision on selling this blog. What about your concerns on this blog? It s value and the effort you did?
I was going to say “sorry to see you go” but I’m not. You’re doing a great job over at Freelance Folder. I just hope to see more of YOUR writings over there.
Hi—Jon:
I kept checking my RSS for a new post from SWR, and was starting to get worried. Was wondering what was going on, that you hadnt posted in awhile. I’m glad the reason is you are busy.
How cool about your band. Sounds like mega fun. Are you gonna be touring? Do you tour? Do you have YouTube videos?
Glad to also hear you’re off to new and better projects. Good luck with sale of SWR, although i dont think you need it. It will sell fast. Will check out your new portfolio site.
XoXo—–Missy.
Congratulations John on all your success. It’s nice to see that FF is doing so well. Good luck!
The new owner of this site will be quite lucky. Its success thus far seems to be a reflection of the many hours of work put into this site. Good luck with the sale and I hope everything goes well with the multi-author blog!
Hey Zakman, thanks a bunch for all the support buddy, I sure hope the new owners will keep it conversational, I would definitely stop by and comment :)
HD TV, well I wrote a lot of posts on this blog, but other projects are simply taking too much of my time, as for my concerns, my opinions, and my efforts I will focus all that on these other projects. SWR is like my lil baby, but at some point you gotta make choices….
Hey RT, thanks a bunch, yeah I know I’m really ’sharing the spotlight’ on FF, I will write more posts though, once swr is sold and my portfolio site up and running :)
Missy, thanks a lot, well we started doing some shows already (more to get the kinks out at this stage), and will certainly start touring eventually (will bring my laptop on the road) :)
Hi Anthony, thanks a lot bro, really appreciated!
Malignition, hey thanks a lot :)
what?
let’s all hope that the lucky buyer can equal or better yet, surpass what you did on this blog.
glad that you let us know where to find you.
goodluck with the sale and to your other ventures.
At least you took the time to actually say the blog is going up for sale. Good luck in your other ventures.
I understand your sadness, but congratulations are in order! After all, you built this up on your own, and now it’s a ’sale-worthy’ site . . . that alone is deserving of some recognition. Congrats! And good luck with your new ventures!
why not make this a multi-author blog like your freelance folder?
Btw Jon when I first came to the site I mentioned I was going to eventually switch to wordpress from blogger after Ritu switched his too. So I’m still going to bug you about hosting/converting the blog. What’s the best way to get a hold of you guys? I have a domain bought already, just need to decide on the hosting. Then the wordpress theme/template.
[…] Smartwealthyrich.com is for sale . Wow, that is truly a great site for many reasons. The selling of it does make sense. Jon being as talented as he is, has many projects to keep him busy, and he just does not have the time to devote to SWR. […]
Wow, you gonna’ retire on this?
Thanks for all the comments guyz :)
Jon Roth, that’s a good idea, but unfortunately it would still be quite time-consuming (FreelanceFolder is a multi-author blog and even though I don’t write all the posts it still takes time to manage), thanks for the suggestion though, appreciate it
Web Design RI, I’m not ‘retiring’, just trying to focus my energies on less projects (I already have a lot) :)
It was a nice run…good luck in all your future endeavors.
Omigosh, it’s my first time here and it’s already for sale, sob sob…. anyway cool site :)
hmmm… still no update. :(
i’m just eager to know who will be the next owner of SWR.
Nooooo, sucks to hear! But good to hear other things are going good. I too have been away from the blogging world. Kind of stopped posting on sean-dinner.com when school started back up. Not much time to do anything, and any free time I got form school/projects I was too pooped out to do anything.
Anyways, hopefully everything works out and the buyer keeps the site growing strong!
Some very (very!) interesting and exciting things coming up for SWR, will keep you guyz posted! :)
Hope you get a good offer for your blog
Your going to get good money for this site. You have done a good job with it. Just a few tips. Sell it on 12 month earnings minimum. Some sites sell on 18 month earnings. Don’t accept 10 month earnings. And make sure you employ someone to sell your sites. I hope you get what you want. Reading on this site has been a pleasure.
really sad i liked to read here! I HOPE YOU OPEN A NEW SITE
Looks like your on your way to the next step. Good luck buddy. Just let me know where you’ll be writing and I’m there.
did you get a good offer for your blog ? ? i want to sell too my blog
Wishing you a great new journey after this blog sells!
hi,
I am totally sad that this website is for sale..):
Hey everyone, thanks for all the comments, I’m sad to see this blog go too, but don’t worry, got something coming up soon, I think you’ll be pretty happy, SWR is not going anywhere, just changing hands (I’ll still be around), getting a facelift and getting ready for round 2 :)
(you’ll understand once it’s ready)
Hi,
Has it been sold?
From your comments it seems like it has.
Hi CFernandes, yes it has been sold, I will write a follow-up post tomorrow :)
All the best , if this is your choice,
To your advance success,
Tracy Ho
wisdomgettingloaded
is it sold already?
Hi Jon,
That’s sad that the site is up for sale… good luck with it all and Happy New Year !
Good luck with your new ventures. Freelancefolder looks like a good place to be.
Updates here: http://smartwealthyrich.com/happy-new-year-long-overdue-update/
:)
Once your new blog has been stablelized would you consider to open a new one?
How much are you asking?
How much did this blog sell for?
i will miss your blog.pl. let me know your new multi author blog.
I’d be interested to see revenue / traffic stats. The lack of recent updates concerns me, but info on those two areas could make me interested. Plus do you have a general asking price / starting point yet?
Oops! Sorry missed the followup post with purchase details. My apologies.
You did a good job getting a lot of readers. We will miss your blog.
Wow, sad to let your first blog go. I could only imagine, but its a wonderful marking in your life. To get to the point where you are doing so well that u can sell the site and move on to better things is great! I think this loss is ultimately gain for you! I wish you the best!
