Payment Options Continued - Credit Card Processing

If you go back a couple days ago i wrote a post about the importance of making sure your visitors and/or customers are actually able to purchase the product you are promoting by verifying your affiliate programs’ website and checking their purchase page. I would like to explore that further, (but this time, say you are selling products online) and add some information to help you monetize your website/product if you are indeed selling your own product on the net. (but it can also be applied to the offline business owner)

At some point you will need a merchant account and credit card processor, like Advantage Processors. If you want to process credit cards (visa, mastercard, american express..) you need that. You will need one that is reliable of course.

Now let’s analyze your business, is it low or high risk? This company, for exemple, offers both low and high risk credit card processing. If you run a restaurant or a traditional business, store or something like that, your business is considered “low risk”, but if you run, say a gaming website, it is considered “high risk”. Which is real fine, but some credit card processors and merchant account suppliers will not provide you service because of the high risk factor. Always refer to the company website and make sure you read their FAQs or even send them an e-mail for more infos before you sign up! Also make sure you have all your questions answered before signing-up. You want your business to be the more effective possible.

So, depending on the type of business you run online, you may need that kind of service eventually, or maybe you already have a credit card processsor. Either way, do your research before deciding on anything! If you don’t have enough knowledge, or feel it’s a little complicated, you can of course search for infos on google, or contact a credit card processing company directly and ask for more information, and by doing this you will be able to see what level of support you will recieve should you decide to do business with that one company.

Any of you has a merchant account, and deals with credit card processing? It would be interesting to know what are the criterias on which you base your decision when choosing a credit card processor.
