Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone

It’s always hard to step out of your comfort zone, but when you do get to step out of it, you definatly improve yourself! They key there is to expand your comfort zone! We all fear different things, and fear is one of the strongest human emotion! But when we overcome those fears, well our comfort zone gets bigger and expands, thus increasing our self-confidence and self-esteem! Which is always good!

Conquering your fears and expanding your comfort zone doesn’t mean jumping in and making blind decisions! To expand your comfort zone you have to take calculated risks, stop procrastinating, and it’ll expand! And as it expands, you will most probably feel better, and get more things done in less time!

So how do we do this? Well here are a couple of tips you can use that may be helpful:

  • When you have something to do, do it, even if you’re not sure what will come out of it, for example, if you have a tough phone call to make, well do it, you’ll feel better after the phone call than before. Like i wrote above, stop procrastinating, because it won’t do you any good!
  • Be honest and sincere when you talk to someone! Make sure the other person understands your points and views. And even if the other person doesn’t agree, it’s fine! You have to stand up for what you believe in, and you cannot make everybody agree and like it!
  • Do things you don’t do really often, or haven’t done before! You want to gain more knowledge and more experience, so get involved, take whatever courses, hang out with people you respect and that have interesting conversations.
  • Remember that if you had bad experiences in the past, chances are the same thing won’t happen again, but you won’t know if you don’t try it again! Don’t let your fears control you!
  • That’s about it! Please feel free to share your own tips and tricks! It might be really helpful to others! :)

    1. It really is amazing how this works. Most of the time, you feel so much better after tackling a task that you just don’t want to do. I remember when I was in sales, I HATED “cold calling”(approaching someone who hadn’t shown interest). But after doing it, especially if I made a few sales, I felt great and full of energy.

    2. Hey Anthony! Man i soooo understand what you mean!!! I hated that too! But you’re right, it feels so good when you make a few sales and get some good results! :)

    3. The majority of people use the phrase “Stepping out of your comfort zone”. However, a better phrase and philosophy is to “Expand Your Comfort Zone”. It makes more sense “Expanding your comfort zone”, than to stepping out of it.

    4. Hi OpportunityLinker! Thanx for replying! Good point you have there! It’s true that “expanding” makes more sense than “stepping out of”, as you can see in the blog post i used the words “expand” and “expanding” all over the place! :)

You’re not a stranger anymore, enjoy your stay! Thanx for stopping by! And feel free to reply to other posts! Take Care!

    5. I definitely agree that stepping out of your comfort zone is something everyone needs to do!

    6. When you see people doing things that you know you could never do, you wonder “How do they do it”?

After you find yourself taking the leap and doing a few things you never thought you could do, you realize it’s not that big a deal after all.

Risk is good. Feel the fear and do it anyway.

    7. Aww man did I hate cold calling? I was told I needed to be thick skinned to survive cold calling, but after making a few sales I was enjoying it. Even now I sometimes do a bit of cold calling and I enjoy it.

Getting out of the comfort zone is kinda hard but I agree with Gregg, its something everyone needs to do. Good post mate.

      Cheers.

    8. Hi Gregg, Shane and Robin! Thanx a bunch for replying!

It’s so true, once you conquer those “fears” everything seems to be so much more simple and easy, cause your comfort zone has expanded!

Yeah cold calling is one of the things in business that i hated the most, when i did it and got good results it felt great, but still it’s not something i personally like, but i enjoy the results. It’s like, when you step out of that comfort zone, and it expands, you can always get interesting things out of any situation, cause in the end your comfort zone expands, so it’s good :)
