Surround Yourself With The Right People

Have you ever wondered why some people seems to always be the “victims“? While others are simply enjoying every moment, and seem to always see things on a positive note?

One thing to keep in mind is that my reality is completely different from yours, and your reality is completely different from the other guys’ reality and so on… and we all had different experiences, and we all see things “our” way. And some people simply tend to see everything with negativity… and when you surround yourself with negative people and victims, well…you become a victim yourself! Unless you know how to avoid it!

Picture this! You’re at work, on a lunch break, and one of your collegue starts bitching about another collegue (that is not there at the moment)… what do you do?

  • You join him/her and keep talking trash about the other person?
  • You tell the person to stop?
  • You get angry, and tell the other person what you think of him/her?
  • You enjoy it, and participate?
  • As far as i’m concerned, i might as well leave… it’ll be better for my health anyway!

The more you surround yourself with victims (meaning people that always complain about everything) and negative and depressive people, the more you’ll see the darker side of things. Beware, it usually happens gradually, and you get dragged into this, without realizing it!

I prefer surrounding myself with driven, passionate and positive people! Hey in the end, it’s just more fun! It sure can be fun to rant and talk trash about something, but it won’t help you move foward! It may even make you go backwards!

We all have different life experiences, and some people will see things positively, and others negatively. It all comes down to what you really want! Surround yourself with successful, respectful, passionate and positive people, and you’ll most likely be more successful yourself!

What about you? Do you try or tend to surround yourself with positive or negative people? Successful or unsuccessful people? Take a look at your results, in your work, business, relationship…etc… and then think about the people that surrounds you.. are most of them positive or negative?

A good attitude can take you anywhere, while the right attitude will take you exactly where you want!

You become like the 5 people you associate with most. Their attitudes influence yours, and their actions influence yours. Attitude without action is dead. Great post. How’ve you been? What’s new? Corvallis, Oregon is sunny and warm today! Finals week starts tomorrow (4 finals in 3 days), so I’ve been studying lately.

I finally feel comfortable playing “My Stupid Mouth” by John Mayer on guitar. What’ve you bee learning/playing? Hope to hear from you soon Jon!

    2. Absolutely right Bryan! the 4-5 people that you are with the most will influence your personality a lot!

It’s sunny and warm? Lucky you! hehe here (Montreal) it’s more like snowy and cold! Though i don’t mind snow, uumm.. gotta go skiing soon i think! :)

John Mayer is an awesome songwriter and musician! Well on my side i’m in the studio recording our album, which should be out probably this summer!

Last song i learned was “Juice” by Steve Vai! (some kicking guitar solos in that song!)

Ok, i’m craving my guitar! gotta go play! hehe

    5. Yo Jon,

      Trash-talking can be positive. :D

I agree with you, though, and this applies to blogging friends as well. The bloggers you choose to build relationships with are going to influence you in a huge way, too.

    6. Bryan, yep Steve Vai rocks! :)

Hey John! howz going? Yeah trash-talking can be positive, i agree with you on that, it depends on how and when you use the “trash-talk”, but it can surely bring a lot of traffic!
