What Are You Blogging About? - 2 Blogging Challenges/Events You Don’t Wanna Miss

BloggersUnite Against Abuse - September 27th

BloggersUnite Against AbuseSome time ago Tony at BlogCatalog announced a new “blogging challenge“, blogging against abuse, any kind of abuse. This will take place on September 27th. You can read about it on the official BlogCatalog Blog and on the Discussion Board.

The goal is to get as many bloggers as possible to post about “abuse” on the same day, and if some feel charitable, give some money to organizations (you choose which ones). Simply a nice way to “give back“. Anyone can enter this challenge, just have to post about it on September 27th, if you’re a member of BlogCatalog, check out the discussion board.

If you choose to join this challenge/event, you’ll most probably also get links from other blogs (such as this blog, which will probably get a PR5 anytime soon. I hope!) So go ahead and check it out! ;)

Some great blogs are already entered, BloggingMix, My Dandelion Patch, Blacky Sky, Krista M Baker, and many others.

Blog Action Day - October 15th

Blog Action DayThere is also another big challenge, on October 15th, called Blog Action Day. It’s organized by the folks at FreelanceSwitch, NorthXEast and ZenHabits, and so far many many blogger said they’ll participate (including me).

LifeHack, Successful-Blog, Problogger, Copyblogger, eMoms At Home, Today Is That Day, Andy Beard, Pronet Advertising, Entrepreneurs-Journey, DailyBlogTips, and a bunch more (350+ blogs, over 750,000 rss subscribers).

So, the goal with this challenge is to post about the environment, and if you want you can donate your day’s earnings to an environmental charity. You can also read more about this challenge on the Blog Action Day Blog.

Your Turn To Talk

Will you participate in one of those challenges? which one? both? If not, tell us why. If you do plan on blogging about those 2 events, let us know, tell us the reasons why you wanna participate. I’d really like to know what you guyz think. ;)

Take care!

  1. I don’t plan on blogging either one of them. Mostly because they are not in my niche and I don’t like to blog off topic very often. I would blog both of these if I had a blog that they would fit into but I don’t.

  2. Hi Michael, if you decide to post about one of those 2, it could probably stay “on topic”. I’m not sure if it’s really “on topic” for many of the blogs that will participate, but they entered anyway. You can always write a post and make it relevant to your niche/blog. (imo)

    ;)

  3. Hey Jon,

I like the idea of blog action day. Great topic and it needs to be blogged about. Just signed up!

With some creativity, it wouldn’t be too hard for anyone to blog about the environment and fit it into their niche. They’ve got some helpful tips on doing that over at the site.

  4. I just can’t wait to those days :)

  5. I never blog off topic because I am redoubtably worried I will compromise my wealth of blog revenues, which sometimes even reach into the high single digits. Things of such lasting impact should not be tampered with.

Luckily, I don’t have a problem blogging off tropic, which is where our children will be blogging from in the near future when the warm breezes of carbon monoxide waft across our simmering globe.

  6. Hey Shane, it’s cool you signed up! :) (looking forward to reading your post on Zoomstart, )

    BlackySky, same here :)

Stacey, right on, I think this touches everyone, I’m thinking of buying a “smart car” eventually, every little action helps :)

  7. I think it is a great idea and I will definitely support it. I can understand why people don’t want to blog off topic but again I must say that I feel that blogging should come from your heart and not your wallet :)

  8. Seriously I don’t think you can blog off. The subject is so large that anything can fit. Think about it carefully and any subject can have their abuse or an environmental point. Use your imagination and you will find something related. However if you are a real blogger you won’t care to blog off once…..

  9. Hi Mikael, I’m with you on this! :)
Sure for some folks blogging “off-topic” isn’t really a good idea, especially for corporate blogs, if the company doesn’t want you to blog off-topic, but even though, it can still be made relevant and on-topic, depends how you write it :)

BlackySky, yep, I guess if you keep it at around 20/80 it’s cool (20 off and 80 on topic) ;)

  10. Hi, Jonathan! There’s an award for you at BlogsWeLuv! :)

  11. I signed up for Blog Action Day last week and I’m looking forward to it. Posting about the environment on a blog about making compost and gardening shouldn’t be a problem.

The abuse topic might be hard to post about though. Perhaps something about the abuse of vegetables? Nope, I had better sit that one out. :)

  12. Hi Tish, thanx a bunch, got it! :)

Anthony, awesome, really looking forward to that day (and also the one on abuse, I agree “abuse of vegetables” wouldn’t be an easy post towrite hehe)
