What Drives You To _____ ?

For me, writing articles and posting on my blog (and commenting on others) helps me improve my writing skills and get things “on paper” and “out of my head”, it’s a way to release and share my thoughts, a way of expression, and i also really enjoy the interaction with fellow bloggers and business owners. Of course i learn a lot of things in the process!
But what is the real motivation behind that?
Is it passion? love? fear? feeling of importance? money? Is it positive or negative?
Sure we like to write or do the things we do for a lot of different reasons, if there was no reason to back it up, we just wouldn’t do it!
When you write your next post, or your next article, or choose to do this instead of that with your business or website, stop and try to think or the reasons why you made that choice. It is important to know the real reason why you chose this way instead of the other way. If you have no idea, and you end up making a bad decision.. you kinda want to know why you did that, and correct or improve it next time!
Please share your thoughts and views regarding that! I’d like to know what drives people to do what they do, in their blogging and in their business! That could be interesting! and we can all learn from your replies! :)

good thoughts Jon. i think that’s why most of us blog…get our ideas out of our heads, onto something referenceable, and maybe if we’re entrepreneurs…turn those ideas into dreams, and those dreams into goals. Those goals will make it a reality.
We have have, be, or do anything we want in life.

Exactly! Something referenceable! So you can kinda keep track of your progress.
Great reply Bryan! :)
Keep blogging…I check 2-3 times a day and not a new post…makes me sad :-( haha. j/k when you have time.
haha, i’m writing some new ones now! I try to post like at least 1-2 times a day (i’d like to post 3-4 times though)!
But hey get my RSS feed you’d be notified when i post a new one! :)
Thanx a lot for the support Bryan!
We live in a world of information overflow. Blogging forces me to slow down and really think about something that I find interesting. I think this is a great post for getting back to the basics. What are you doing? What do your readers want or more importantly to whom are you speaking. Slow down, think, write, review, learn, share, meet.
-Kendall
Hi Kendall! thanx for your reply!
I really like the way you put that, “Slow down, think, write, review, learn, share, meet.” I totally agree, “a world of information overflow” too much input and too much output…gotta think and rethink… for me the most important part is “learn and share”.
Hope to see you around again Kendall! By the way i really enjoy your blog, it’s part of my rss “read often” category :)
I had thought about starting my blog for about 2 months. I finally decided to do it while I was on a plane. I pulled out a blank piece of paper and wrote down 48 topics that I wanted to write about. I figured that would last me a good while if I did about 2 posts a week.
I quickly realized that I needed to post a blog everyday in order to sustain traffic and subscribers. Then, after further analysis, I realized I had almost no traffic on the weekend, so I could stop scheduling posts to run on the weekends.
I think the key here is that posts need to happen often, and you need to check to see when your traffic just dies down. In my case, I know that no matter what I do I won’t get visitors on the weekend, so I don’t blog those days.
