   I agree Jon, its about time to stop. thats one of the reason why I wrote about the class system with google’s pagerank.

   If somebody is doing something right why do they even need a pagerank, the visitors are going to keep coming.

   I made a little slogan yesterday
   ” Pagerank is like gambling,
   Forget it, ignore it,
   Keep on rambling ” ;-)

   what do you think? lol

   maki did a great post - you just need to make of the situation - I posted as well something about all the clutter that is happening with PRs

   people just get so use to see their PR increase from their work and they see it drop which gets them annoyed - well that is marketing

   also PR should not be the only cause to see to get traffic - sites with low PR get more traffice than some of the bigger guys

   Maki’s point is quite valid: Why waste time and energy on things beyond our control? It is far better to invest our resopurces where we can influence and govern our own return on investment.

   We each have charge over our own destiny, certainly not Google pagerank. Let’s leave that to Google, as it is their right, and stop worrying about it.

   yeah like Maki said, he’s got 6000+ rss subscribers, so the PageRank is no big deal.Advertisers want exposure, not necessarily PR juice ;)

   Hi Dan, totally! If you rely on Google you kinda put all your eggs in the same basket. It’s beyong our control, so, let’s just write :)

   Maki, you’re welcome for the mention. Surprisingly enough SWR got a PR5, I don’t get it, but after reading your post all I was thinking was “why am I all woried about PR?” hehe

   Maki put it together very well. The traffic is all that really matters. However I still think that Google Page Rank matters when it comes to making money online. Google updated the PR of one of my two blogs from 0 to 3 two days ago and immediately I was able to accept more sponsored posts opportunities.
   By the way, congratulations Jon on your PR5. Last time I visited your blog your PR was 4.

   While the amount of traffic is a deciding factor for advertisers, they still put some weight on PR, so it doesn’t hurt to have a decent one; although if you don’t it isn’t the end of the world.

   As for the cause, I have heard/read that Google is in the midst of their annual major update and that is why PR’s are jumping up and down. Every year they have a major update just before the holiday season kicks off.

    It’s indeed time to stop. I am a member of a huge webmaster forum and the have been talking about the PR update since September. The update was delayed for like 2 month and within that 2 months they have been making speculations and assumptions.

    Now that the update is over, these people are still talking about PR. It’s really becoming annoying.

    I bet those people who say it isn’t, if you offered them a jump of two points tomorrow in exchange for [insert heavy price here], would say YESSSSSS!, with alacrity.

    You’ve got a point “Joedel”, page rank update was just recently about last sept. 28-29, Google will probably update again after next yr first week or before new yr perhaps. For me, PR is not really important, the important is how you/ve really make a lot of conversion and traffic on your site for you to gain a lot of profit around on your website.
