Your Marketing Expenses Are Higher Than Your Revenues?

Google Adwords PCWell of course, if that’s the case, it’s not good! You probably would like the opposite (unless you enjoy giving money to google, yahoo and other companies.. i don’t!)… so you want more revenues and less marketing expenses!

How can you cut down on your marketing and advertising expenses then?

Well here are some tips that you may find useful! Those, of course, won’t garantee you results, ’cause what works for one may not work for the other, but it may still be useful! Also feel free to share what you know and what you do to cut down your marketing expenses, and give more advices on that subject. I think many people could benefit from that!

Ok, let’s concentrate on PPC advertising, which is one of the many ways i make money, promoting products and services, as an affiliate.

For those of you who are not familiar with PPC, i encourage you to check out Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing, and read more on those sites! PPC advertising is simply a fast and easy way to get traffic to a website, sales page, or affiliate program, you pay every time someone clicks on your ads (look at the right column in google results page, sponsored links.), and then you get paid by the affiliate program every time someone joins or buys a product through your affiliate referal code. Simple!

It is extremely easy to spend money on PPC… so gotta find ways to earn more than what you spend! If it’s not the case, you’re loosing money!

You absolutely have to keep track of how well your campaigns are doing, if a product you’re promoting isn’t working as good as it should, drop it and promote something else! I wrote a post a while ago about ppc and the types of products to promote, you might want to read it and also do a simple search on your favorite search engine (google! duh!).

So how to avoid spending too much on PPC?

  • Work on improving your ads: relevant ads with the right keywords will cost less. If you’re advertising some prodduct, well make sure the name of this product is either in the title of your ad or in the description
  • Do some more research: Try to find out what your competitors are doing, and learn from that!
  • Ask fellow marketers for opinions: It’s always a good idea to ask for an outside opinion.
  • Read books and ebooks about PPC: Investing $50 to $100 on an ebook is really cheap, considering what you can learn, and the money you can save afterwards! (I highly recommend Perry Marshalls’ guide to Adwords)
  • Apply what you have learned: It happened to me a couple of times.. i read something, find it useful, and then forget to apply it… result? Still stuck, and still paying too much, and giving too much money to google… apply what you have learned, and see if it works! If it doesn’t.. read it again! Maybe you missed something! Trial and error does pay in the end!
  • Read Google Adwords News: The Google Adwords Blog is a good place to read about what’s up with Google and Adwords! Stay up to date with googles’ policies, and new stuff! Like the latest Google Adwords change, the quality score column. You wanna make sure you’re aware of those kind of things!
  • So that’s about it for now! I’ll write a new post soon with more infos, advices, tips and all. Please feel free to add to the discussion! If you’re an Adwords user, or if you’re wondering stuff regarding Adwords, or have questions, i’m sure someone here will be able to help you out! And we would all learn by participating in the discussions! :)

My buddy Wes Mahler just showed me AdWords today. I’d have to learn more about it before I had a “great comment” but I think before using AdWords it’s important to have the right website niche.

Well I can’t agree more than spending money to make money is important, but spending LESS and making MORE is even more important. How’ve you been bro? Haven’t heard from you in a while :-D

    3. Hey Bryan! you’re right, it is important to have the right niche, that’s what’s cool with affiliate marketing, if you realize you’re in the wrong niche, you can drop it and move on to the next thing. :)
Yeah i’ve been kinda busy working on that new design, don’t have much free time to work on it though, but it’s getting there!

Hey Chris, thanx for the pingback!
